There are $5 and $10 minimum tables over here in British Columbia, Canada. Sometimes I wish there was a $3 min table on the days that the dealer never seems to bust. I don't know what the casinos in Ontario are like though.
Here they also don't go very deep into the shoe; sometimes only one deck worth and then they reshuffle. Sometimes they do go deeper but not much deeper. A couple of days ago I went again and they went through maybe 1.5 - 2 decks before shuffling. I doubt if it was 2 decks though.

Now, this is just in the casino in my city, Langley, BC. They use 5 decks apparently (I asked the dealer). So far in my short time playing there, when I come out ahead, most everyone comes out ahead. But when the dealer hardly busts with his 2-6 up card, I always lose everything if I stay. I still wonder how well the shoe actually shuffles the cards. The shoe in Langley is solid black; you can't see the cards at all. This makes me suspicious of the shuffling.
I plan to check out the casinos across the border in Washington this summer. I heard they are friendlier to their players (not so tight). Even their slot machines are friendlier than up here in Canada. All I need to do is get my passport seeing as I think you need one now (or soon) to cross over.

They deal from the shoe. From what I see, they deal from the shoe about 1 to 1.5 decks worth and they put those cards into the tray at the side. Then when they pull 1 to 1.5 decks worth of cards, they put them back into the shoe. But where the cards come out of the shoe I can see them still; it doesn't look like it is getting shuffled also. That is why I am wondering about their shuffling method. I don't know if all the cards are shuffled or just a certain amount that would be behind the cut card? I wonder if it's even worth card counting with this system that they use. In the States can you see through the shuffler? I'm assuming the shuffler is the shoe, correct?

Windsor and Niagara have both continuous shufflers and 8 deck shoe games with about 70% penetration. So avoid the CSM's. As for table minimums they start off at $5 but as soon as they get busy those minimums start to rise. Once over the holidays when it was really busy at Niagara the table minimums rose to $25!
