ID Legality at the cage

Ive had it. What these casinos are doing is clearly illegal. In the past everytime ive been id'd at the cage and they start writing down all my information and punching keys into the computer, ive been backed off the next visit or the one after. Yes, you should never cash out right away, but the way i play with short sessions i cant be carrying chips all over the strip and sometimes i dont even cash out if i see the pit boss get on the phone which im guessing is to call the cage and get my ID. When i see this i cash out the next day or later on in the day, but today i cashed out later once i saw pit get on the phone and still got id'd when i came back when he wasnt there.

These casinos think theyre smart because they wait for me to give my chips and then ask for my id and when i say i dont want to give my id and to just give me back my chips, they REFUSE and say they have to hold my chips until i show them id. This is the problem i have and it's illegal on so many levels. First off, they have to tell me ahead of time that they will request my ID, which they do not. Secondly if i say i dont want to give my id, they have no right to REFUSE on giving me my chips back. Lastly, they request ID, but never tell me they will write down all of my information without my consent, steal my information and punch it into the computer.

They even slide my ID into the computer or w.e the f*** they do. They also even try lying straight to my face saying they need to verify the purples, but in the past when they id'd me at the cage and wrote down all my information i had no purples at all. Bunch of two faced immoral frauds working in this industry that do anything for a paycheck.

Ive officially had it and things are about to change very soon.

Yeah I don`t know for sure, but that doesn`t seem like it would be legal to not give you your chips back. Next time it happens, instead of refusing, just say you don`t have your ID on you. Maybe at the cage they`re told when someone refuses to give up their ID to do that.

Do you have fake IDs? On another thread, I posted a link to a site that can get drivers licenses from virtually any state and they look exactly like the real thing.
STRONG suggestion: DELETE your post and don't make anything like it again!

Don

What are fake IDs in Las Vegas, NV?
Nevada's legal definition of fake IDs makes it "unlawful for a person to possess, sell or transfer any document or personal identifying information for the purpose of establishing a false status, occupation, membership, license or identity for himself or herself or any other person."1

In short, it is illegal for someone to have or sell any form of personal identification in order to pass him/herself or another person off as someone he/she is not. Typical scenarios that would violate Nevada fake ID law (as well as possibly other Nevada fraud laws) are:

  • An underage person using a doctored driver's license that claims he/she is 21 years old;
  • An undocumented alien using fake naturalization papers in order to get work or other benefits that only legal immigrants are eligible for;
  • A thief using a counterfeit bankcard in order to access someone else's money; or
  • A dealer selling or distributing fake IDs to other people

Interesting, Don. I thought Nersesian said the opposite about using fake ID's in casinos? As in, as long as there is no intent to defraud, there's no problem.

Just say you didn't bring it.
Ive told them that in the past at the cage and whenever a pit boss is trying to get it off me for obvious heat reasons. It works well because it's the least confrontational and they wont pat me down for it so they just let me go.

But when i told them in the past at the cage that i dont have it, they said they will not give me back my chips now and will 'hold' them until i show them id. That clearly cant be legal

Don,

Sorry if my previous post was out of bounds.

But a couple questions; once a casino decides to take a player's action, are they not legally bound to pay off winnings, assuming those winnings were not earned via cheating? And in paying off the player, player card or ID should not be required to cash in chips?

ZenKingG, at what Strip casino did this occur? You can PM that answer if necessary.

Tell that to Nolan Dalla, Nevada Gaming and Bellagio.

Certainly "novelty ID" that looks official at a glance but which cannot be construed as "counterfeit" is not illegal...
... but if such novelty card is used to obtain player club, is that a crime?

The casinos do what they do. Your job is to do what you can without triggering their traps. If you are greedy you trigger their traps and have to do what is necessary to get out of them.

It has nothing to do with greedy players. Some casinos will pull this scam for a few hundred dollars, or even when the player is losing. It's not about money, it's about them desperately wanting to get your personal information. Some casinos are desperate enough to break the law to get it.

When the casinos are not held to the same legal standard as the players are, that imbalance is going to affect all APs.
