Piggy Backing as a strategy

Piggy Backing...This is a trade secret I've picked up (well it's not a secret now). I've only been able to consistently do this at one of my two favorite Socal casinos. I doubt it works in Vegas though because Vegas casinos seem a bit more guarded against counters (but I rarely play in Vegas).

I'm pretty friendly with all the floppies when I play and maybe it's because I'm a woman I think I'm more disarming. A DD game with good rules and decent penetration usually has only one set back -- no mid shoe entry. But I can get around this: I wave to the dealer to deal me out if the count turns negative after the first round; I'm sitting next to a floppy (especially a regular who I've played with often) and hand him or her a chip or two if the count turns really positive. The floppy is more than happy to let me play in his/her circle. We're a team now! The dealer and floor manager usually doesn't even care that I do this. If "we" get a decision hand and the floppy wants to do the wrong thing, I just whisper in his/her ear what "my vote" would be and follow up with "but you do what you want, it's your circle I'm just grateful you're letting me play with you" and they ALWAYS do what I suggest.

This works with 90% of the dealers and floor managers at one of my favorite casinos; occasionally I get a dealer who tells me I can't do it (because it's the same thing as mid shoe entry, DUH), but I just note which dealer it is and avoid doing it with them. It doesn't work consistently with my other casinos but I still try and sometimes I get a permissive dealer and floor manager.

I know you guys on the forum think I get away with this because I'm a woman but hey, thought I'd pass this on because it's great when you can do it because you are only playing on positive counts at a really good game. I love playing with floppies, they gladly eat the bad cards and let me play in their circle when the count is good.

I've never tried piggy backing in Vegas, but on two occasions, I got a dealer who let me jump in and out of my own circle at a DD game! This happened on the strip and this one dealer let me do it for an hour before his floor manager stopped him. I just pretended I didn't know that I couldn't do it.

So don't assume you can't until you try and keep trying with different dealers. It doesn't call you out as a counter because many floppies forget this and try to go in mid shoe all the time because they get confused from 6 deck to DD.

I imagine the men get embarrassed when you call them floppies.
That's rich, NAP. Socal...BJ - check the urban dictionary if confused. Never been to So-Cal but I think everywhere else the term is "Ploppies".....then again if you check the urban dictionary on that one, you will get a different definition as well.
