Progress from Hi-Lo into ZEN

#1
Hi Everyone,

ATM I'm working on improving my game and I've decided to learn ZEN strategy.

I'm in position of "BJ Blueprint" & "Blackbelt in BJ" books but in both of them this strategy is shown in other way.

I'd like to use estimating true edge by half decks like shown in "Blueprint" but I cant find indices for this method. However in "Blackbelt" there are indeces but there's in use 1/4 decks estimations ...

I have as well mobile version CV software which includes following indices:
-Basic Zen Count
-Complete Zen Count
-1998 Zen Count

Can somebody using this software give me advice, which of above is correct for using half decks estimations of true edge???

PS. can somebody confirm if indices charts for ZEN are the same as well for Eur No Hole conditions?
Especially I'd like to get some more info about correct indices for:
DD 11 vs A,
DD 11 vs 10
DD 10 vs A
DD 10 vs 10 ( all are shown in 98 Zen Count Indices)

Thank You

Estimating by 1/2D and using indexes calibrated for 1/2D are actually two different things...
For example, those who use actual 1D indices in 2D games still estimate edge and strategy variations by 1/2D and even 1/4D.
In fact, it's counter-intuitive, but 1/2D and 1/4D index#s are actually less accurate in play than 1D indices.

If I was just starting today I would use indices calibrated at 2D (not 1D, 1/2D, or 1/4D), like Renzey advocates for his level-2 'Mentor' count...
... 2D calibration allows for the most accurate and granular while being easier to boot.

So....

My Question is about 6D S17ENHC conditions not 2D games ;)

2D calibration means that I should only divide by 6,4 and 2 only?( or multiply by 1, 0.66; 0.33 ?)
What about 3/5 decks left areas?
I.e. 5 less is a "4D part" and more than 5 "6D area"

And:

Where Can I find 2D calibration indices?

Are those in CV mobile version shown as Complete ZEN Count correct ???

Or it's called somehow else???

as far as I see PE in ZEN is much higher than HiLo so how HiLo can get more money?
It doesn't get more, but it's the industry standard, most widely used and has the most information readily available about it. Your time and brain power are better used honing your casino comportment skills than learning obscure counts.

For the record, Hi Lo gets the money.

Thank you! I was thinking of posting something along the lines of questioning just how going from Hi-lo to Zen was "progressing"? At best one is "chasing pennies" and expending excess brain power doing so... brain power that could be put to use on something that really does make a difference. THAT would be "progressing". :) But now I don't have to post along those lines. All I had to do was "like" your posts LVBear. ;)

The OP has must be reading the BS on the other major forum BJTF) where they claim less variance, less chance of getting backed off and PE as reasons for higher level counts. In 6 deck games at least, the higher level counts are truly meaningless.

However, after a losing streak, it is common to question the count you are using. I was advised by the pros on BJ21 that I should focus more on other aspects of losing and I re-evaluated, found I was playing poor games at times, not leaving when a game turned poor (when the 3-4 ploppies sat down at my DD game for instance), underbetting instead of more optimal betting (because of fear of heat) not following the indeces (and not hitting a 12 against a 4-6 regardless of the negative count (for fear of ploppies getting mad). sometimes even not hitting an A7 against a 9 or 10 (cause the ploppies dont approve), not being aware thyat the penetration had changed with dealers and not noticing the effect of fatigue on counting (another AP playing on my table once told me that I had been max betting in a negative count (Instead of fremembering the count as a negative 4, I was recalling positive 4) and more.

I got better results being more self aware and aware of the environment.
