when to enter

#1
Hi, as a first thing I am Italian, so, sorry for my english.

In the casinò I usually play they use a 6decks shoe and I am practicing with KO (I start with an IRC of -20) but I wasn't able to understand if playing (when the RC is favorable) with a penetration lower than 50% makes sense. Could you clarify it?
The 6 decks are shuffled when the penetration is 5/6 but sometimes it happens that the RC goes to -4 before half of the 6 decks are played and it seems to me a waste of profit not to enter the game in that situation (I usually backcount).

Thanks for your help and sorry again for my english.

Have you read the KO book.?? As soon as you hit the 'key count' you are at an advantage regardless of penetration. If you want to take it to the next level and be more accurate about your level of advantage you can learn to true count K.O. One of the problems with K.O is it can fail to recognise an advantage early on in the shoe so with 2 decks played you could have the advantage as early as -8.

Thanks for your help Taff.
I read some chapters but actually, I have everything I need, the only thing that wasn't clear to me was just about the penetration, I also already have the matrix with RC in one of the axes and penetration in the other with all the TRC inside this matrix. But if you say that no matter the penetration if you are above the key count you have an advantage does this mean that I could play online "live" where the shoe is reshuffled after half of it has been played (or dealt, i don't know the proper word)?

Read the WHOLE book.:). Appendix V will give you some insights as to the effect of penetration. I have never played online, nor would I, but if the shoe is shuffled halfway through then it is worthless. Yes, once in a while you may hit the key count but this will only mean you are playing an even money game and for only a few hands at that. You simply dont have enough information about the remainder of the shoe. In a six deck game the minimum acceptable pen is 75% or 1.5 decks cut off. From your initial post it seems you have 5/6 decks played in a real casino. The ability to back count this makes it a good game, assuming all other rules are good. Why would you want to play a 50% pen game online.??

Ok, I'll buy it then (until now I've just read the chapters available online for free). By the way my question about the online casino with 50% of penetration comes from the fact that sometimes I have only one hour of spare time and the going to the "real" casino takes me 30min (which considering the time to come back leaves me no time for playing) and so I thought that maybe playing online can be an option.
Anyway, this is what I don't understand, why did you say "In a six deck game the minimum acceptable pen is 75% or 1.5 decks cut off" if actually I can play with any penetration? is it just a matter of hands in which the count is favorable before 75% of the deck is played that make the effort worthless?
And thanks again for helping me.

Exactly that. You're more likely to hit a worthwhile count later in the shoe so the more decks that are played the more hands you will have to take advantage of that count. 5/6 is a very good pen. Another tip...you're going to need a lot more than one hour to make this work, particularly if you want to back count.

yes, sure I will stay there for more than one hour, it was just that sometimes happens that I have one hour and since it is worthless going to the casino I was wondering about playing online.
Anyway now I understood everuthing perfectly thanks and good luck!
