Rival, which now trades as Rival Powered, is a Cyprus company that made its public debut at a London trade show in 2006, though sources put its founding a year or two earlier. Industry profiles place its head office in Nicosia and name Black Chip Ltd as the company behind it, but Rival itself publishes very little about its own corporate side, so those details are best treated as reported rather than confirmed. It changed its name from Rival Gaming to Rival Powered around 2016, as it leaned from pure game development towards supplying a broader gaming platform. The single most important thing to understand about it is the market it works: unlike most of the studios covered here, Rival has always served the offshore and US-facing end rather than the European regulated one.
