There is no penalty on the ordinary player, and no recreational player has been prosecuted for playing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The real risk to a player is money.<\/strong> Payment providers are barred from handling these transactions, deposits are being blocked and accounts frozen, and no Indian law protects you if an offshore casino refuses to pay.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The ban is new and under challenge.<\/strong> Its validity is before the Supreme Court, so the position could still change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<h2 id=\"is-it-legal\">Is online blackjack legal in India?<\/h2>\n<p>Blackjack is a casino game played for money, which is exactly what the 2025 Act now prohibits. The law bans offering any online money game whatever the skill involved, so it does not matter whether a game is argued to be skill or chance: real-money rummy, poker and fantasy sports are caught alongside casino games such as blackjack, roulette and baccarat. Every online casino that takes Indian players is licensed offshore and offers exactly what the Act prohibits.
