Worst day in my career.

Worst day. Worse session. Worst shoe. Worst 10 minute span in my BJ career.

My friend should take partial blame. Not long ago, he told me who the top gun of this casino surveillance team is. And today after I stayed at this table too long, suddenly the top gun came from upstairs, approached this table and stopped here. Now he was watching me play. My heart was pounding. Will today be the first time I got banned?

I have a pair of two's. The dealer's upcard is seven. TC is +3. I had $200 bet. I decided to do a cover play. Instead of splitting, I decided to play ploppy and just hit it. I got a nine. Now I had to hit again. And a ten bust my hand. The good news is top gun just left. But had I split, I would have had two perfect double down of 21. That is $1000 turnaround.

It is like God is punishing me for such a bad play. For the next few hands, I lost at 18, 19 then pushed at 20 and 20 again. True count is skyrocketed. Everyone else had at least one Blackjack for their $25 or $50 bets. And now TC is +10, I decided to bet $500, got a pair of fives, double down, got a two, lost that hand. It seems to be a good chance to play a ploppy chasing the loss, I did something I never done before, I bet $1,000. Actually my max bet at this casino is $450. Double down my 11 and get an ace. No doubt the dealer made his hand to end my miserable day.

Nah no way, get over it, I've made similar moves when the situation calls for it. One session I was consistently intentionally making "mistakes" much worse than not splitting 22 v 7, virtually every hand. Every competent card counter would violently wretch and vomit if they saw what I was doing. Walked out of there with +230 units.

I hate when I'm winning too much, I want to lose and I can't :cry::cry:

Splitting 22 v 7 is BS. You should have done it. Not following BS is the red flag that could get your play tape reviewed. He had no idea what the count is walking up to the table.

Oh please, I wonged in to a table betting 2 x 1000 and the dealer got a 10 up blackjack. ended up losing 5K or so playing the last deck of the shoe before the cut card.

I will admit thought, that was the last time I bothered counting cards.

But if you want to be a card counter, you can't complain about losing a double down on a 1K bet, deal with it.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for anybody who gets negative variance, ESPECIALLY a card counter. Any successful counter should be prepared to handle the downswings. And the fact you're bringing a hindsight play into this just sickens me.

Let me get this straight: You were so worried about heat with a $200 bet out that you played the hand wrong and then put out a $1000 bet like you weren't worried about any heat. You truly must be a genius!

That's a BS play. No need to do a Genius cover move here. You out-Geniused yourself.

Actually I did this part right. He came downstairs to investigate, probably because of my plays deviated from BS. Had I played perfect BS under his watch, he would have stayed longer to watch me more. Having seen the deviation is good for the casino, sent him immediately back upstairs with satisfaction.

My max bet is usually 16 or 18 units for shoe game. But occasionally I bet 40 units or even more. But the true count must be over +10 and the yellow card should come out during this hand. Win or lose, I will leave the table. Usually I had good results on such rare opportunities (due to super high TC), but just not yesterday.

Why would he come downstairs to evaluate your play in person, when he has a perfectly good view from his chair?

Ah yes! If you can't see him he can't see you. I have no idea why casinos spend so much money on cameras, video and such when it's a known fact that if you can't see them they can't see you or what you are doing. Next time he comes downstairs just act like an ostrich and bury your head. He won't even know it's you.

Do you charge for genius lessons?

God? I suppose he does, doesn't he?

One of the best ploppy stories I have: a guy at the table at Mohegan is quite the religious fanatic, yelling after each hand that this place is controlled by Satan and we're all at risk of damnation for being there. So I told him- why then are you here? If I believed Satan was dealing the cards I wouldn't be playing. He heeds my advice and leaves, and my next hand is... 6-6-6. If he had still been there and seen that he would have freaked!
