Argosy -- Lawrenceburg has double deck

Although you may already know this, the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun had a decent 6D shoe, at least when I was there a year ago. Basic rules plus late surrender allowed.

    Cipher Warning

    a) Slander is oral. Libel is written. b) "Deformation"? c) And I'm pretty sure that legally you must prove that bilgplaya blantantly disregarded the truth in his post.

    Wonging Questions

lvhcm to Automatic Monkey, ironically: "Oh that's right, you're an attention whore." I've noticed a much darker tone in these forums lately. I viewed all of your your posts and it didn't take long to see that you're part of the problem here. Are you CIPHER's intern?

    Heat in the Midwest

For those of you who get around: Regarding heat, are Nevada's casinos generally riskier than the typical Midwestern riverboat casinos?

    Wonging Questions

Sonny: You said: "Sometimes the count will drop during the first several hands then jump back up suddenly. I’ll usually watch through the first two decks. If the count isn’t positive by then I will look for another shoe." Could you elaborate on this a bit? I can understand leaving the...

    Hole Card

I'd say in the very-best-case scenario, the friend was a counter, maintained the count extra-clearly while tripping, and got lucky in prediciting the hole card (if indeed his claim is true). I would never want to test this because once you drop the acid, your desire to make a financial...

    Wonging Questions

I've read through this card-counting forum so much that my head is spinning. Buuut, I still have some questions, this time regarding wonging. From what I've read here, heat isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I'm not too worried about it, really, but I'd like to cover my bases. So you're...

    Just Focus on the Count

I've been searching through the posts on the Counting Forums and yesterday I ran across an older post where Ken said that he often recommended that new counters should spend their first few casino trips just keeping the count, and then gradually inserting index-plays. (At least that's how I...

Card Counting Techniques - Mental Gymnastics

Let's say the players' second cards are being dealt. When you watch the table for pairs, do you map out the most logical pairs all across the table, then quickly combine the leftovers? Or do you strictly keep each player's two cards as a pair and add/subtract right then as you scan?

    Why bother with the TC?

Do you mean drop hi-lo altogether? Or do you mean master hi-lo, then learn and master an unbalanced count? The count resources you posted on the Counting Forum Sticky tend to push in the hi-lo direction. And I've probably got a year before I go back to the casino, so I'm all ears!

    Why bother with the TC?

I'm learning hi-lo to play 6D, and I'm wondering why I ever need to know the true count. Why is the RC-to-TC conversion necessary? Can't you just memorize the RC values that are important? For example, if you only want to play a game with a TC of 2, then instead can't you just watch the discard...

    Return of CIPHER!

(this image is just great) I can understand neither CIPHER's system nor the arguments against it, but when CIPHER again resorts to avoiding the issue by calling out Zg on a wholly unrelated issue--- well then call me a sheep, but I'm going with the crowd on this one.

    Trump/Express/Majestic Star

I'm looking for information on the BJ rules in these casinos: Trump Casino and Majestic Star Casino, both in Gary, Indiana; and Casino Express in Michigan. Any info whatsoever is a helpful start. Thanks in advance.

Lost my temper with a pit boss

No reason? Do you have no emotion? I'll bet if you were there you'd see the thousand injustices that AM witnessed. Math is math, and odds are odds, and science is science. Knowing that comes with the gambling territory. But in the end we're still just people that can lose our tempers when a...

Lost my temper with a pit boss

I loooove this story! It makes you wonder if counters are doing the world some small but great justice. The irony is that counters pocket their wins. I won't reflect on the situation because I'm not in a philosophical mood at the moment. Again, great story. SF: "(in a slightly negative count...
