How many decks of cards do you own?

North of 100; good for deck estimation and miscellaneous drills. Probably have too many, but bought in bulk.

Opinions needed for a challenging mission

Seconded. Was it worth the trip? Do you still have all of your limbs and digits?

Dealer error, pit says you may play the hand or not. What would you have done?

I haven't had too many dealer error situations, but in my limited anecdotal experience, other players at the table have corrected the dealer errors in my favor more than *half* the time. It makes me want to scream at them, but of course, I can't. Ugh.

Dealer error, pit says you may play the hand or not. What would you have done?

Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm hunting dealer ewwows. I always have a hard time not "jumping the gun" and pulling back the payout too quickly.

Dealer says to you : "you're a card counter!"

I usually go with "I can't even add my hand correctly half of the time, so I sure don't know how those guys can supposedly keep track of all the cards..."

Dealer error, pit says you may play the hand or not. What would you have done?

Not quite right... Oh, if it were a simple case of double exposure, I agree with you completely, and would have loved the opportunity to play the hand correctly. However, this was a case where the dealer flipped the incorrect card, thus showing us his "down card," but not showing us his...

Dealer error, pit says you may play the hand or not. What would you have done?

Here's another one. One related situation I ran into recently where the pit was not quite so generous. We were at a moderate plus count ~+1.5TC, and the dealer flipped over his second card accidentally as he was trying to turn the first. He called the pit over, and asked what he should do. I...

Dealer error, pit says you may play the hand or not. What would you have done?

Thanks for the confirmation... I was 98% sure on that decision, but appreciate the confirmation. Someone else at the table stayed in on a stiff of some sort -- can't remember which -- and ended up winning. Nice to know I made the right call based on the %'s.

Dealer error, pit says you may play the hand or not. What would you have done?

I was offered I was offered the option to get out of a hard 14 vs. a dealer 3. I took the out, based on the fact that (a) I wouldn't want to hit it, and (b) the dealer's chance of busting was well less than 50%.

Would you count cards for fun?

Ditto. My hourly wage dwarfs my hourly EV, and my wife and friends can't believe I would go to the efforts I do to count and play (i.e., practice, travel, etc.). Fact of the matter is, I find it fun and challenging, so I explain it as a profitable hobby. If I actually deployed my...

1st Wong Trip of '09 Result. ROR? COMPS?

Last time I checked... Last time I checked, they weren't bad, and they weren't particularly sweaty. Dealer dependent DD pen -- I saw 55% to 75% on H17 DA2 DAS. As far as I could tell the floor hawked the money more than the spreading, although the eye may have been a different story...

Is getting 86'd worth the experience?

This is precisely why, in another thread, I indicated that I have no respect for PCs and dealers, when they would obviously take advantage you in that situation. To believe that you were so depressed over your gambling losses that you intended to kill yourself, but nevertheless continue taking...

    "Smart" dealers and pit bosses

The issue is not arrogance -- I know full well what role these individuals play, and how difficult they can make life for a counter. So if a clarification is needed, I'll certainly admit that I respect their position and the power that they have over me and my game. But I'll be damned if...

    "Smart" dealers and pit bosses

Nothing personal, really, and I suppose the comment was unnecessary, but the issue was whether they were "smart," and whether or not their advice was worth the time it took to render. Someone can be perfectly good at their job, whether it's flipping burgers or dealing cards, but that doesn't...

    "Smart" dealers and pit bosses

On that note, I realize this is an old thread, and I'm anything but an "old hand," but I was playing dd some weeks back with a buddy at a major strip property. Given the sad state of casino business these days, we were at a $25 table in a HL room playing DD, H17, DAS DA2. As is my wont, I...
