    CBJN Abbreviations

I bought my first copy of CBJN and some of the abbreviations in the "comments (#10) Column baffle me. 1. What does "Is, 6" following h17 mean? (Alamo Reno) 2. What does "nms" mean following h17? Terrible's Rail City Sparks I am assuming that h17 means the dealer hits a soft 17. Thank you.

    Lake Tahoe

Post play report Lakeside is fun. We didn't win, but didn't lose much. My wife wanted to try Harrah's, so we played 15 minutes and lost $160. Lakeside good, friendly and real. Harrah's phoney and jip.

Any Advice for a new player?

Advice for a new player If all the players that didn't know what they were doing left the tables, the casinoes would be very empty.

    Lake Tahoe

We're not card counters, play basic strategy with tweaks to match house rules as shown on this site. It sounds like we'll stay at Harrah's (its paid for) and walk over to the Lake Club, and get back to reno ASAP! Thank you both for the advice. Is there more to know about BJ in Tahoe?

    Oregon Casinoes I have known

In order of preference (for Blackjack), the following reviews are provided. We have played and stayed at all except Three Rivers where there are no guest rooms. Nice rooms, friendly staff, fun play at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville, OR, just of I-5. They have a non-smoking room with 2...

Best place to *stay* in Reno?

Boomtown Bye Bye I suspect that we suffered at Boomtown because we DON'T count (cards). We simply play basic strategy based on the ev we find here modifying our game to meet the house rules and number of decks. We seem to benefit more from double downs and splits than from Blackjacks. We have...

Best place to *stay* in Reno?

Boomtown Sucks! My wife and I stayed at Boomtown on 3/2/2007. The rooms are dark and dingy with tiny bath and a hard bed. We lost $140 playing $5 SD in 3 hours and saw no one at any of the four tables we played winning. There were lots of angry players. Last, but not least, I ate their seafood...

how can the count stay so negative?

Single deck question In SD play, shouldn't the count (Hi-Lo) vary around zero? Shouldn't the count restart at zero with each new deck, no matter waht the running count is anyway? Thanks, Cliph

    Tournament BJ

Tounament BJ Strategy I have been invited to my first ever BJ tournament and have been practicing BS and card counting daily. How can I learn tournament strategies for playing and betting? How do they differ from basic strategy in regular (casino) play? Thanks, Cliph
