    Some questions for a beginner

Don't want to hijack this thread, but playing a style that isn't exploitable is probably one of the most important things in NLHE. Positionally dependant openings for the same amount, etc. make it very difficult for a good player to put someone on a tight range. Fortunately, at lower stakes, the...

    Some questions for a beginner

It's situational, of course, but I disagree with the above statement. If the guy is involved in too many pots, he's waiting to be expolited. Playing $5/$10 ring games during the WSOP, I always seem to end up playing with online players who simply run out of patience due to the pace of the...

How to clear a crowded table

I had an older man leave the table because I refused to hit my 13 v. 2. We were the only two playing. He held 20. "You're going to hit, right?" "No, sir." "You have to hit. Someone has to hit before the dealer takes a card. I have 20." I just looked at him. Dealer flips over an Ace...

What is the most profitable betting spread?

The most profitable would be to jump to the max as soon as you get an advantage. The RoR will be something you have to evaluate for yourself, though. If you're only playing two hands when you have an advantage, then play two hands when you have an advantage.

Change in EV for Ace removal at beginning of deal

Nothing at all.... The player said, "I didn't mean to hit 17". I wasn't even thinking about that aspect of the hand, actually.

    N0 = ~1 SD, right? Does that mean 2 SD's = N0*2?

Change in EV for Ace removal at beginning of deal

This recently happened and I've been thinking about it since. If there's a way to set this up in CVData/CVCX, please let me know and I'll try to get the answer myself. I was playing a D/D game and all 8 Aces were dealt during the first two rounds (two players + dealer). First hand, a player...

    What's the law? recommendation?

Wow. No good options. They'll probably ask for I.D. too, right? How about this: Player A goes to get his money and says, "I didn't realize I had my friend's player's card in the machine - we were here together a few days earlier. I didn't even look at the receipt when it was given to me. You...

Do any of you "warm up" before hitting the tables?

I'm either a degenerate that's playing too much or maybe I make a lot of mistakes, but I can't remember the last time I gave any thought away from the tables about anything other than the spread/ramp, and then only if I'm making a big change. I do spend waaaay more time than necessary (like...

    RFID Chips

On a slightly different note (RFID-related, though): There's a store that has a small piece of tinted glass embedded in the counter at the cage. One day I asked what it was for and the cashier said, "There are chips in the chips that 'count' how much you're giving us." (This store doesn't...

    Martingale Vs Card Counting

I respectfully disagree. That the card gods would bestow a losing streak on me is surely a mistake. It's not like I'm a sociopath, and I don't kick my dogs! L.I.A. P.S. I'll cop to all the others on the list, too.
