I'm pretty sure the 100x-max-bet bankroll you speak of is for a lifetime bankroll. Keep in mind my trip is 3 days. This is a $1500 trip bankroll that can be replenished for future trips however many months later one may occur.
Thanks for that.
Two things:
1) You think my $1500 BR can sustain $100 bets?? I mean a reasonable scenario is that I split my $100 bet and then double a hand, and then I have $300 out there. And if I lose, there goes 20% of my BR, assuming I wasn't down to begin with. Or do you think my...
Hey All,
I am going to LV in a few weeks on a 3-day trip with a $1500 BR and will be using HiLo at 2 different types of games: 6D H17 DAS LS RSA and DD H17 DAS RSA both with $2/3/5 minimums. I am trying to devise a betting scheme that maximizes EV and keeps trip ROR tolerably low (<10%)...
If the count calls for both a surrender and insurance, what do you do?
For example, I have 14 vs Ace, and the true count is 5, do I surrender or take insurance?
Haha.
So I hear doubling down rather than splitting = more long term profit and less variance, but I also hear splitting is better than doubling because of the opportunity to put more money on the table in a favorable count.
Responses?
According to my HiLo indices:
4,4 vs 4: Split at 3 or greater
8 vs 4: Double down at 5 or greater
So say the count is 5 or greater, do I split or double down a pair of 4s versus a dealer upcard of 4? My hunch says split because that opens up more possibilities, but I just wanted to make...
At this point, I am leaning toward focusing on the $5 DD games, doing a 1-(6-10) spread...will mull that over...and increase my BR a few hundred dollars. $800 was a somewhat arbitrary limit I had decided on, but I have additional semi-disposable money.
I will use Hi-Lo with exact indices...
Machinist, thanks for your wisdom.
Shadroch, that is great usable advice. Thanks so much. Your suggestions seem very reasonable, but how are you coming up with these numbers? Could you link me to the sim/calculator you are using or just fill me in on the math?
Thanks for the advice. But flat betting would kind of defeat the purpose of counting. But again, according to http://www.card-counting.com/blackjack-calculator-c3.htm, if I play 2500 hands with 160 units and assuming a 1.9 unit win-rate per 100 hands, my risk of ruin is just 16% (which I...
@machinist: Yes, by my math: 10$ average bet/hand X 60-100 hands/hour X 25-30 hours X .5% advantage = $75-$150. Not bad for a poor med student!
While I obviously would like to win some money, I'm not doing this to earn a living. But with a break until school starts, the excitement of...
Could you elaborate on "winchips" a little bit more? I had never heard of these, but they sound like a good deal! Circus Circus is somewhere I'd definitely play at, anyway. So what is the deal exactly? Do they actually just give you $45 in chips for $30?? What's in it for them? Are they just...
Okay, in case this thread gets side-tracked a little, let me focus it in a little bit.
1) Is an $800 bankroll suitable for $5 minimum games over 3 days of playing? Or should I search for the $3 games? Bear in mind, this is a 3-day (i.e. 25 hours) bankroll and not a lifetime bankroll...
I appreciate your comment. Also, I am fully willing to accept what you are saying as I am just a novice, but according to my reasoning/calculations, the trip does not seem all that doomed. Could you provide some support for your argument?
Here is how I see it currently. According to the...
