3card 16vT

#1
I am relatively new to this forum and to serious blackjack.

Learning and practicing my basic strategy ...

Going to start hilo and/or KO too.

Saw reference to not hitting 3card 16vt ... makes sense ... is there charts for these and other basic improvements over BS ...

incidently i play ASM6 2/3reshuffle, DAS, DA, S17 LSR.

at local casino.

any basic suggestions ???

Thanks a lot !!!

Author Fred Renzey recommends "The Rule of 4/5"
If your three card 16 contains a 4 or a 5,you stay, otherwise you hit. It's supposed to be more effective than just a blanket" stay on all three card 16s vs 10." The fewer decks, the more this rule helps, but he says use it for all play.

His book,Blackjack Bluebook II has a number of compostion dependent changes to BS,and is very useful on many other points.

this book is a MUST read for new BJ players. it will get your head screwed on straight about what it means to play properly. it also has a respectable count system in it: KISS III - as good as hi/lo and KO....

the game you have at your disposal it pretty good rules wise, pen is NOT good, but the rules lower the house edge substantially, S17 + LS.... *drool*

What would you do if you had a count of 15 useing the Kiss III count with a 6/7/3 ?

Thanks for the info !!
I really do appreciate it ...

That book is on my next Amazon list.

There are so many books and so much software that its difficult to sort thru all of it.....
And already i am finding that its not all correct either ....
But I like and trust the wizardofodds..... and this forum seems excellent !!!
Any software recommendations ??
thanks again :)

Assuming the count is +15 after the 3 cards are counted in as well, you're supposed to stand. Unless you know how to true count this index, where you're supposed to stand 16 vs 10 at TC about 0 (it's a fraction above)... page 175 BBII

it's a priority thing.

lowest priority basic strategy
next priority change basic strategy play for rule 4/5 ect.
next priority heavy babies on table sort of thing. (some # Renzey gives)
next priority basic strategy departures according to indices or the count.

not sure the exact card composition's but the idea is to prioritize as to how you make your play decisions. reason being having more or less information to work from.

one thing to be careful about. this or that book will be talking about this or that count method. be sure to keep them separate in your mind and understanding as to what's going on. ie you might have hi/lo as opposed to hi/lo lite or ko and red7. what ever. the bet ramps and indices and advantage weights can be easy to confuse when you first start looking into all that.

Addendum...

Stand 16 vs 10 on counts of (unless surrender is an option)

1 Deck in: +11
2 Decks in: +13
3 Decks in: +15
4 Decks in: +17
5 Decks in: +19

Hence the average of +15 given in the book... assuming a 6 deck shoe game...

Boatman, I highly advise reading Blackjack Bluebook II... it's a really good book that's EASY to understand... I think Kiss III is a very straightforward system that is just as good as Hi/Lo or KO but much easier to use.

Kiss III makes wonging easy! And if you learn more about unbalanced counts, indexes aren't so complicated to memorize if you understand a few things.

My advice is to learn either Hi/Lo or Kiss III... Hi/Lo will prove useful later down the line when adopting more advanced techniques.
