A practice tip that helped me

This is something I've used to practice counting when I'm away from the casino, or driving down.

Anytime you see numbers, such as on a license plate, or a phone number, pretend it's a hand at a table that you are backcounting and "count" the number.

So if you see a billboard for something with:

"1-800-123-4567" then in HiLo cancel the "1"'s (Aces) with the "23", and cancel the "0"'s (Tens) with the "56" and you'll see the "count" of that phone number is +1.

Do this with license plates or prices in a restaurant menu, etc. Hopefully this helps somebody starting out, as I know it helped me practice my back counting skills.

I'd prefer the person driving behind me and my loved ones is concentrating on actually driving, not trying to count license plates or numbers on billboards.
Your advice works best when one is a passenger.

Not really the same thing but it reminded me of something funny.

After a long day of playing in Vegas I got back to my room and was counting my money. I was counting to myself... 1 (hundred), 2 .....9, 10, Jack, Queen,

Also, be prepared for dumbfounded stares when in a restaurant and the server inquires, "Sir, ready to order?" And you respond, "Yes, plus six".:laugh::
