AC weather opportunites

Last night was one of those rare weather opportunities in AC. The Nor'easter rain storm kept alot of people away. Seemed more like a Tuesday night than a Friday, except there were many more tables open, making for more opportunities. Snow storms are even better. The bigger the better! I am going to miss these opportunities next year as I will be spending more time in Vegas and less in AC. Probably one of the few things about AC that I will miss. :p

Hey Jason,
I was there too. I was having too much fun playing poker though to really take advantage of the BJ opportunities. I expected it to be like a hurricane but was disappointed as it was just raining a little with maybe a little wind too. There was even one $25 table in a HL room in AC that night.

As usual Thunder, the weatherman's bark was far worse than mother natures bite. I did see some damage to the beach and wooden walkway over in front of resorts/taj. I guess the dune they had built up to protect the boardwalk and casinos, washed away and the wooden walkway over it collapsed. Still was enought to keep the friday crowd down, which was advantageous.

Highway shut down

Accidents, flooding, everything else... people in NJ drive an extra 10-20 MPH faster in crappy weather with gale winds and driving rain. I guess they like the excitement of it and it makes life more interesting for them. They even had the "Let's flip the SUV contest" on the way into AC on highway 30 Thursday night! There were at least a few winners and the highway was shut down, leaving the "Let's see who can weave through traffic the most to gain a car length" contest on the AC Expressway.

I was there from Wed. morning until Fri. night

(I never play anywhere on weekends due to crowded conditions)

I had a dynamite trip making oodles of money without ever betting even $100.

The gales created "High Seas" with impressive swells and tides that eroded the beaches.

Seeing the Atlantic Ocean covering most of the beaches was an interesting sight.

Congrats on your successful trip Flash. I am currently checking webster's to see just how much "oodles of money" amounts to.

Unforetunately despite attempts to build up the beach, the ocean cover most of the beach during most high tides. I really thought the trop was going to take on some water on that low lying first floor, where the shops, restuarants and one slot machine area is located, but I didn't hear anything about that, so I guess it didn't happen.

It always amazes me the once a year or so that I make it down to wildwood. They have like half a mile to 3/4 mile of beach and poor AC has only a few feet.

Some of my fondest memories are of playing a Fine dd, pretty much headsup, all night till that ****-hole of a casino closed the tables at 4.am. I would then cash out, often with a teammate, then proceeed out the main entrance into the frigid Arctic air, literally, with only the clanging of the flagposts ropes and the flashing neon casino sign drawing attention away from the frozen, forbidding expanse... my breath forming an icy mist with each exhale. Very few cars in the lot, praying my car would start in the 20 below temp and that no bear would come at me before I made it to the car. The drive back to the casino hotel was of the frozen kind and the warm hotel room most welcoming. The playing conditions of winter, so different from the very busy tourist season of summer, when an empty spot at the tables could be so very hard to find.

I now remember those nights with great affection, and I now realize the great beauty of it all.

That ****-hole of a casino is now gone, replaced by a most beautiful casino hotel combination, which upon my checking in, means I never have to leave until I check out, the games still as good, the accomodations so much better and most scenic. But I will always have those great memories of that ****-hole casino, and the Arctic nights and the flag pole and the sign, for all my days.
