After you get busted?

#1
I guess some of you card counters have been busted, so my question is, what is the differences before and after you get busted?
For example you get recognised all the time when you are playing?
change of strategy? , and so on.

depends on whether you were using your real name or not. and where you got busted. and finally if you were backed off or fully 86'ed.

if you got busted at say a HET joint using your real name, odds are you are done there and at all sister properties if you want to use your real name. if you are using a fake name, then it depends on how good a picture they got of you. i would venture to say most people would wait a while before going back to a store they were busted at (no matter what shift). some might be unlucky and be backed off again as soon as they approach a table upon their return even a few months later. some might not be recognized again until they were caught counting again.

changing strategy will not really help you - once you have been identified, you are pretty much done. best bet is to ditch the player card you were caught using, get another one in another name and try again. you wont know until you go back. also re-assess how well you were hiding the fact that you were counting.

take my advice with a grain of salt i guess since i have never been backed off or 86'd to date.

Yes, another shift may not recognize you. However, I would not do this under most situations. This can make a bad situation much worse. I would recommend going elsewhere if you can.

Anyone who has ever been "backed off" usually tells of a very professional experience. A tap on the shoulder which you should see coming and an explanation that you can no longer play blackjack here. If you are using a players card then it sours the use of that card at all their related properties but just visit them and don't use your card. I'm not an attorney but I believe it is illegal to use a fake I.D. (I'm sure, if I'm wrong, then someone will graciously correct me. ) In my experience, been playing 30 years, getting heat is a rookie mistake. If you can laugh and joke while playing and act totally disinterested, maybe by watching the roulette game to your left, a good player can still spread 1-20 at any table. I will admit that I'm refering to 6 deck high stakes at larger casinos that know my action. Heat is really over stated if you can chew gum and walk. I never use cover bets because I believe real advanced play looks dumb enough to 99% of dealers and pit supervision. Once in a while someone who suspects will discuss counting with you, like a pit boss or even the casino manager. I just keep playing as we chat. Was only bounced once at the Stardust 2 deck pitch, stand on s17, double after split. It was the trap everyone warns you about. I went for my all time high...a rookie mistake 4 years ago. P. S. Never won that much at 1 session since. Hey no more junk mail from the Boyd group! And they tore the rat hole down-hah!

I'm not an attorney either but the law prohibits possession of a fake ID card that purports to be from a government agency.

Now, of course, this leaves a few loopholes.

(1) If your fake ID does not purport to be from a government agency (e.g. fake company ID), you are not breaking any laws, although the casinos generally don't accept those as picture ID.

(2) If your ID is not fake (e.g. someone else's), you are not breaking any laws of the government, although the casino can confiscate your ID if they realize that's not you on the picture.

My personal advice is not to play with fake ID's. Either borrow / bum / find someone else's player card, or play with your real name.

Wowzers. You've been playing 30 years, but made rookie mistakes 4 years ago? I'm confused.

Why would you be confused? Have you ever taken any casino for mid 5 figures? Greed is a rookie mistake. And we all make mistakes. I forgot the golden rule, take only enough that they happily welcome you back tomorrow. Up to that point in my playing life I had never had all the stars/moon/sun align in the right position to allow me to get to my all time high...If you had the run I had I would bet big money that you could not have walked away either. It was my day to be a blackjack God!...and get backed off too. I only hope you experience the feelings...then we'll talk mono-y-mono.
