Greetings!

I use hi-lo at DD and shoe games. Ive heard that there are better counts for DD..(zen and hiopt)....but I just haven't had enough time to get comfortable w something other than hi lo. I have an opportunity to play single deck (Wendover) for a few days in the near future.

My question to the experts here is: given my limited counting method....and limited time/ability to practice/learn much new info.....what r the most important indices (or other things besides indices) to try to memorize and use with single deck hi lo?

Keep in mind that I am still quite new at both BJ and counting.,,so I would welcome info that is so basic I should already know it!

Thanks in advance for any help u can provide!

If you have time, I'd get the book "million dollar blackjack" and read the chapter on single deck blackjack. It contains a wealth of information... lots of things to consider and some neat ideas that may seem to go against what you'd think such as when to switch to multiple hands etc.

No time

Thanks for tips. I should be able to memorize i18 and fab 4 before trip..,I have studied and used them (minimally) w DD and shoe games but wasn't sure if they were on target for single deck as well. There is only one casino within 60 miles of me that has single deck....the few times I've been there the table is full and pen poor..so my experience is almost bill.

I don't have time to order million $$ BJ book from amazon before leaving..,,does anyone have time to share the highlights of that books chapter about single deck? No worries if u don't have time....I totally understand! I'm typing this message from
My iPhone on a bathroom
break at my 9-5 job! Lol

As always....thanks to everyone here who shares expertise and experience with newbies like me!

I have been playing/counting for several months now....seems like plenty of time to learn a simple game....,WRONG!! It sonetimes seems that The more I
learn the more I realize I DON'T know about this game!

Review the single-deck BS at the BS Engine on this site. there are some differences from multi-deck. For example, standing on 77 v T.

You don't need the fab 4 in Wendover as they don't offer surrender. you do need to use the correct ill. 18 for hilo SD. You do need to split 10s every time it comes up, and it will come up pretty often on SD.

I don't recommend hilo for SD, but if you're going to use it be aware that the TC will skyrocket almost every other shuffle. being that a shuffle happens at least every 5 rounds if not less, you're going to be in for the biggest roller coaster of your BJ career if you've never really played SD.

DO NOT play if you're only getting 3 rounds before a shuffle. ALWAYS, discreetly rathole chips. DO NOT go to the nugget. I had a ploppy sit down next to me at montego bay complaining about how he got 86ed from nugget for winning $100 net profit. ABSOLUTELY DO GET a players card at Pmill props.

good variance to you. hope you hit the positive side really hard!

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for great advice (again...and as usual)

Wish I had time/energy for better pitch count than hi low....but will have to make do with it for this trip anyway.

I printed ZGI....will read it before hitting the tables. Plan to use travel time for study/memorize as many useful indices as possible. I have Wong's PBJ book...there are charts/tables that could fill up a much longer plane ride than I have (some things improve with age...but my memory does not appear to be one of those things).

I will avoid the nugget and get a players card at pepper.

Will report back with results after trip.

ps....not leaving just yet....and will have internet with me if anyone has more advice. No doubt I can use all the help I can find!

Mica, a few months after i joined this site.....i was in the chat room getting to know people.
I usually remember a few good quotes from the guys that have really "Done it"...
And this came from one of the best..

" Make the Dealer do what you want him or her to do "

Alot can be read into that quote. I myself have half way figured out what he meant, its takes experience at the tables. Situations arise all the time, where a dealer can be manipulated in so many ways.
Being that you are a woman..............definitely use that to your advantage.....
A fair game can be turned into a great game quite quickly under the right conditions.......
Also....PLease let us know how the trip went!!!!!!!!!

I could offer some tips on making HILO perform better for SD but you don't have the time for them to become useful . So I just wish you luck. Have fun and try to get some experience in to learn from.:cool2:

ZGI was too good to wait for travel time....pages 1-20 were far more interesting than a few domestic chores I should have done tonight.

I LOVE your idea of averaging/ clumping indices together.,,.It will
Be much easier to memorize and utilize!

What an interesting life! Until now I had no idea that I was learning from and communicating with such a celebrity.

Thanks fir your help!
