Ian Anderson recommends taking DHEA three times a day while playing, taking melatonin at night and drinking green tea during the day.
Another author recommens hot water with honey and cinnamon.

Aside from the obvious- don't drink, get plenty of rest, any advice on something you find helps your game while on an extended trip?

redbulls.

i probably drink way too many in general but i can always chug a few. i've taken 5hr energies on road trips and they work.

i haven't really had an issue with staying sharp that a shower and power nap can't fix.

Exercise is better than taking anything artificial. Get plenty of rest and plenty of exercise and eat regularly. (none of which I do )

Interesting. A person named "daddy" posting a "do as I say, not as I do message". Where have we encountered that before in life?

I know what's right, but alas, I'm not a perfect example of a parent.

both caffeine and fish oil pills are known to help with alertness, concentration and mental function. Fish oil is also good for the heart to boot!

OK for BJ----not for VP

Things recommended here probably work okay for BJ but if you're doing video poker AP you don't have the luxury of stopping to take a shower, nap, etc. unless you're part of a team that can "keep the seat" while you're absent.
The most attractive opportunities aren't real healthy when playing solo. I used to drink huge amounts of coffee to stay awake but try to avoid excessive amounts of caffeine now.

By accident I discovered a 100 mg. Viagara seems to do wonders for heightened awareness and energy,,,just be careful not to rub up against the cock:yikes:tail waitress when she comes by.

I am not recommending this, but I have been known to take a yellow zinger (ephedra+caffeine+guarana) before long playing sessions. Don't plan on sleeping for the next 16 hours at least. I can't believe the label on those things recommends 3 a day. But I'm also guessing you are kind of the same way with food as I am, and it'll help prevent those buffet raids.

Other than that, no supplement advice as I don't believe in taking vitamins- good sleep, good food, wash your hands a lot and do a decent leg-stretching routine before running around LV or AC. That actually increases your EV, because when your legs are stretched out you walk faster and you get around tables and stores quicker.

Adderall should keep you going all day. Definitly don't recommend it unless it's prescribed to you. But it's popular with college kids. I used to take it to study for big exams and wouldnt even get up to eat or go to the bathroom for 7-8 hours straight. Great study/work aid but potential harmful side effects.

Some of you guys should have your results stricken from the record. Or at least a big ** next to your names.:laugh:

I have to admit that I like booze too, but for longevity it has the worst possible effect on me.
My choice was Courvasier (sp.?) straight up with water back. I'd get quite tired after 4 or 5 glasses.

Several points about DHEA, a hormone. It may improve mood and energy in older men whose levels have started to drop. But it's not going to do much on a short term, limited basis and most likely do nothing for men < 50. The three times a day regimen makes no sense as this is not a short-acting hormone and there is a daily cycle to male hormone production anyway (elevates in the morning). Unless you're older and run down, I'd forget it.

Melatonin affects circadian rhythm, helping you fall asleep. It is a hormone and most people take too much considering little is known about the long term effects of supplementation. A dose of .5 mg is sufficient to do the trick. More will not necessarily help you fall asleep faster or have better sleep quality.
Hot water with honey is also a sleep aid. Take 30 minutes before going to bed. A related note is that simple carbohydrates--sugars especially--tend to make one relaxed and ready to sleep in the night.

If you have a big meal, particularly one with a lot of carbos, the body releases a lot of insulin to help with digestion and that can make you a little sluggish. Eating small servings of food every 2 1/2 to 3 hours avoids the highs and lows from going longer between meals. In any case, your brain needs adequate nourishment to function well, so it's not a good idea to go all day on caffeine and little else.

CP's discovery makes sense as Viagra has a side effect of increasing blood flow in the brain, which is why many men get headaches after taking it.

The combo product that AM mentioned is better than taking large amounts of any of them alone. In any case, along with the alertness comes some potential for jitteriness and/or aggressiveness if you overdo it. Anyone with blood pressure issues or an enlarged prostate should avoid that combo due to the ephedra.

Alcohol doesn't affect everyone's judgement at the same rate. I would have to be very drunk (doesn't happen like it used to) to lose much effectiveness doing AP.
Think I'll follow CP's advice and get some Viagra, though. Talked to a younger friend recently and told him I didn't NEED it. He tells me it makes him a rock star (his words) that his wife can't keep up with.
Sounds like a GOOD way for me to die!

Ian's words are very good. Tea is a good choice. Instead of the Viagara, try 2 aspirins, followed by a mug of hot tea adding a shot of ginger-brandy. Give it 20 minutes. It has to be aspirin 325's... no substitutes. Two Doans Little Backache Pills are also known to work well (Magnesium salt of aspirin).

Based on your picture, I bet you take something else other than tea.
