If in Tucson, it depends on the type of player you are, and what you hope to gain... Both tribes offer a great game, but I found that the info in the BJInsider newsletter is out of date.
Desert Diamond Casino:
This place is probably the best option for a basic strategy player who doesn't care too much about comps. The games offered here are 6D S17 DA2 DAS RSA with penetration of about 1.25/6 for the $5 min game and for a $25 min game they offer the same pen on average, but out of 3 decks. The comp points offered are absolute poop, but you can use your comp points for
cash back, or a stay at their hotel if need be. The house edge here is technically lower for the basic strategy player, but comps are worse.
Casino del Sol:
My favorite place offers a 6D H17 DA2 DAS RSA LS on their $5 minumum game and the same rules on their 3D game for a $25 minimum. The penetration is much better here with only 0.5 decks cut out of each shoe. In addition, the points are better, and you can use them for
beer, which you cannot at the diamond. In addition, they do not have a hotel (but one is opening at the end of the year), nor can you redeem your points for cash. If you are a sushi lover however, you can use comp points at An del Sol, which I have recently decided is the best sushi in Tucson. Just try their toro, which is offered at market price. I "payed" $15 in comp points for two pieces of fish, which was not only the best fish I've ever had in my life, but comes sprinkled with 24 karat gold... The taste of gold is good!!! (Or so I found :laugh
.
Enjoy your stay at either place, I've found that the game quality of either is superior to most games in Vegas.
PS: If you are a card counter, DO
NOT play at the Desert Diamond on I19 between Green Valley and Tucson... They cut off 2 out of 6D here... Or at least, they did for me
I have yet to see
any other card counter here in Tucson, so if they want to lose money by being paranoid and slowing the game down, let them.
