I was barred from TI (LV) last year, went back this year with friend thinking i would be fine since its been so long ..sat down at DD HL room, played 2 hands then pit boss comes over and says, "didnt i tell you your not allowed to play here" If this face rec. software is really that good, and that fast. Do they share info with other casinos. ( TI not affiliated with the big chains )

Damn!

Do you look any different from last year? Were you wearing anything to disguise your face? Maybe ExGM can chime in on this.

It wasn't FRS, it was the Pit Bosses good memory of your FACE! A PC with a long memory is far more dangerous than any FRS system, which from what I know are highly overrated.

A pair of custom-fitted prismatic-lensed glasses would have protected you. zg

There is at least one legendary-memory PC at TI. I heard a similar story, an Israeli-professor newbee who got barred after 30-min of play.
He went back two years later, played two hands and had the same experience as Tedsux. Made my Israeli friend paranoid. zg

After growing up being constantly guilt tripped by his mother/grandmother/all other females in his family, your friend is probably a little paranoid anyway and should be used to it by now! :joker:

Seriously, a strong memory for faces as described would be SO handy. All those embarrassing moments when one forgets if he did a girl or not when he meets her in a different setting would be a thing of the past ;)

I am considering launching a campaign to encourage qualified candidates with prosopagnosia (face blindness) to apply for pit positions, on the basis of fighting job discrimination.

Tell him you must got me mixed up with my twin brother.

Computers are no good at recognizing pictures, and probably won't be for a long time. That's why they use "Captchas" on web sites - those images with text you have to type in when creating an email account, for example.

pls explain more about the glasses,
is it expensive ?
The baseline measurement for FRS, effecting the entire multi-hundred bio-measurements that the algorithm digests, is the distance between the pupils as measured by the glint, the little white reflection in them.

You can knockout the FRS with dark glasses or an eye patch, but the house knows they are not getting a valid scan. With prismatic lensed glasses done right, the appearance of measurable distance between the pupils changes, the distance appears to narrow ("as light enters the denser medium it bends towards the perpendicular") causing a false negative if you are already in the book.

A good custom-fitted pair will set you back $300. They are not a panacea, but in a high-line joint where you were previously barred they will get you past a first hurdle...

...At least they would 5 years ago. I am unaware how far FRS has gone since, except they can now be put in full environment auto-scanning, as opposed to manual use.

...properly fitted, including with prescription, they can enhance vision as well, like for HC and improved peripheral.

...The also are showing promise for alleviating some health issues.

...In play, the effect is that the table wraps up and around you.

The gumint says they will start using at airports and sports stadiums and elsewhere, so maybe I'll sell them mail-order from Fortune Of Soldier magazine and the like? zg

Some people are just good at remembering certain things. Most of us are great at remembering numbers. Maybe that pit boss was good at remembering certain faces.

I find that I can remember short alphanumeric strings for a long time. If I look at a car, I can remember its license plate number for as long as I want (the car that hit me last summer had the license plate number YVR71N). If I ride in someone's car enough times, I'll permanently remember its license plate number (even if they don't remember their own). I can also remember a specific amount of money for as long as I want. I know over 100 digits of pi. I can remember the running count and how many aces I've seen even after a long interruption. And I can remember specific cards for as long as I want (the dealer had a queen upcard, and I had a jack and a 4, hit and busted with a king, the dealer flipped over a jack hole card for a 20). My memory for specific cards and money helps me remember poker hands when playing live since there's no hand history.

But I suck at remembering names and faces, memorizing paragraphs, or physical descriptions. For example when someone sees a car they'll remember its color and model, but I will only remember its license plate number. It's no surprise that I got a near perfect 790 on my math SAT and bombed the verbal with a 520.
