6/8/08- Played Empress Casino in Joliet, Illinois. ..... No Smoking Tables and Floor. Smoking areas available.

..... Sat out in the smoking deck considering my options, and the group came to a consensus that the slot machines are not very loose, and the worst rule in the casino is no smoking. As a smoker, you'll find it hard to be natural without being able to light up at will. According to the group, the place is dead, a lot less crowded, and that the smokers are going to the Indiana casinos where they can smoke.

.............
where ever one can smoke with out getting hassled by the idiots is going to become the new 'smoke filled room' of old. where the real power resides!

I don;t remember the name of the only book I read. The cover was green and went into more than BJ. It was easy to understand and had instructions on a basic high-low count using 3,4,5,6,10,J,Q,K for the tracking cards. There was also a basic strategy chart.

The only way this will be a train wreck is if I let it happen. Last last/this morning when I lowered my bet after a $175.00 win at a count of +3, I lowered it because the count was +8 and I wasn't about to bet $300.00 so early in the deck.

I play conservative, and know that a +8 after 3 or 4 hands from an 8 deck shoe is not that favorable. If I want to be even more conservative, the book suggested that I should start the count at -8 for an 8 decker, -6 for a 6 deck, etc.

To derail this alleged train wreck, I can always go cram 15-16 hundred into the ATM and make a deposit. This would at least get the money out of the system and into a safe harbor called a checking account.

Once again I didn't get as much pillow time as I was hoping for, and to make things worse PBS is showing a 270 hour documentary called Bush's War that started at 11 est. And I still need to wash my car, but with the soccer/futbal game in the park, there's no parking out front.

Best of luck!

I could care less if the casino frowns on people who give the PB their player's card, and leave a few minutes after it is handed back. I read somewhere, maybe here, that this is not a good thing to do from the casino's POV. I think it was someone else story.

The counter can also get less heat if they take advantage of the comps and not just play for money. The story was about a guy who managed to get over $25,000 in credit from the Vegas casinos, only played a few hours. Was comped his hotel at several casinos, free airfare, and this was all done because it looked like he had lost $25,000.00 that he took home with him.

It didn't go into how or whether he paid it back. I just remember the story. I guess he paid it back, and his win was the free room, air fare food and shows.

SMOKE SIGNALS

May 11, 2008 -- The Post would have New Yorkers believe that NY Indian tribes, namely the Seneca, are financing terrorist activities through black-market cigarettes ("Smuggled Butts: The Terror Ties," Peter King, PostOpinion, April 30).

Like the United States, the Seneca Nation is combating the implication of terrorist financing via tight regulation of all products, import and export, from its territories.

The Seneca Nation developed its Import-Export Law in response to an isolated instance of criminal infiltration and to prevent black-market sales. It has made three busts in tandem with the ATF.

The Post says that NY tribes "refuse to comply" with an unenforced law to collect taxes on reservation sales of cigarettes. What is brazenly ignored is recognition of tribes' sovereign status to remain untaxed in accordance with age-old treaties - constitutionally referred to as "the supreme law of the land."

Maurice A. John, Sr.

Seneca Nation President Salamanca

Illegal-cigarette sales fund criminal activity and hurt law-abiding businesses.

New York's recent decision to raise cigarette excise taxes, without collecting millions of dollars in excise taxes that are already owed, will likely make this situation worse.

Philip Morris USA believes that our brands should be sold by law-abiding distributors and retailers and with payment of all applicable taxes.

We are actively involved in supporting law-enforcement efforts and investigations, and we take our own actions where we can. These efforts alone cannot stop contraband sales.

We urge enforcement of New York's tax and stamping laws and are encouraged by Gov. Paterson's statements that he intends to look more closely at the issue of tax enforcement.

We look forward to continuing to support the efforts of law enforcement and to working with the administration to address these issues.

Vice President Compliance and Brand Integrity Altria Client Services, on behalf of Philip Morris USA

BCSB, I'm thinking you should read a good book or two. As a good starter book, I'm debating between Fred Renzey's Blackjack Bluebook, and Arnold Snyder's Blackbelt in Blackjack. Since I've actually read BBIB, I'm going to recommend it, and I know for sure it has a good section on risk management, as well as being a fairly comprehensive first start.

I'm also a bit confused about what count you're using. standard hi-lo reckons the 2 as well as the other low cards, and a freshly shuffled shoe always starts out at zero. Also, are you doing any sort of true count adjustment (dividing the running count by number of remaining decks)?

There is a significant chance you are not using a real counting system.

Finally, I recommend this:

probably something like Wong's Professional Blackjack would be in order since he claims to already be into hi/lo. Snyder goes into stuff like Red Seven and Hi/Lo lite and Renzey get's into unbalanced counts such as Mentor. i think that could confuse him till he's solid on hi/lo. i know it did me

I read the book back in the 90's and spent two year practicing. I then went on a 5 month binge and won over $16,000.00 before losing $1750.00 at the Desert Inn.

No trip tonight. There is a tornado watch for the entire area and from the way it looks coming in, it's not going to clear by morning. Finally got the car washed.

I am thinking about going camping Monday after putting 1500 back into the bank. I'm likely to hit the casino again on Tuesday. I might even hit it on the way to the campground.

I'm glad someone is getting something out of it even if it is a chuckle. My longest run of winning sessions was 12.

Check out your weather. Just click your area on the map...

The $100 open is also a starting point that allows me to lower my bet to 75 for -1, 50 for -2, and 25 for -3. In the opposite direction, 125 for +1, 150 for +2, and onwards and upwards.

ok well just to give you a little reality check i put it through a sim with the same rules plus surrender for your spread here you described for a 6 deck game thats what i assume it is with 1.5 deck cut off. ok for pure bs because you don't seem to take insurance and stuff you ev is like $9.68 per 100 hands the score is .66 not 66 but .66 and the ror for a $80 000 bankroll is still 33%............

soooo just take a look at that...

Thanks for the warning and WTG on the winning streak. Aren;t they wonderful!

No gaming for at least two days. I have a leak near the front passenger wheel that the mechanic says my be trans fluid. It's covered on the work he did 2 weeks ago, so it's not going to cost me anything to have the guy tighten a couple nuts and replace the fluid.

I was going to Starved Rock State Park 90 miles west of Chicago for some hiking and camping, but rain is still in the area. Maybe Wednesday.

You knew this was coming. The other night and the night after, I was unable to get ahead and ended up giving up $3000.00 in two nights. So call it 2200.00 in losses. 1200.00 one night 1000.00 the next. That includes th 800+ I had won the previous 4 night. The dealer was not getting low up cards, and everyone had to constantly hit. I guess it was just the tables I played at. It was awful. Not really hurt by it. I get over things like that fast.

I'll be back when I'm in a more vulnerable position. And I'll be gaming at some other casino. There is also the chance that I'll be going sometime in July with my mom and sister.

I just wanted to be fair and pass this on.

On a more positive note, I purchased some real estate. A small 2860 square foot lot in Kansas on a river of all places. It only cost me $255.00 and is valued at $440.00.

Also, I went to the junk yard today and was able to buy 4 allow rims for my car. the were standard OEM parts. It made my day. Online they cost 178.00 each, but I was able to get them from Victory Wreckers for 50 bucks each. Then my alternator went out. There's another $150.

For what it's worth, I turned an $1100.00 car into and $8000.00 car. At least that's how I justify my losses.

Best Of Luck To All!

Anyone think I can pawn a Rolex for more than $3000.00? What about the gold listed? Think it's profitable? I also like the nice lot in Florida later this month. You'll know the one when you see it. Maybe I can get it way below market.

Come on Bashful... is this all for real? I read people pretty good, your name, gambling away an unlawful arrest settlement, pizza delivery guy, unconventional play(and posting it), cheap land/realestate (in a flood zone) and you have a Rolex to pawn? Please tell me you are just yanking our chain.
