Bet Spreads

#1
I will be going to Vegas in a couple of weeks. I am a recreational player but I do play BS and count using Hi Lo. I haven't been to a casino since my wife and I took an anniversary trip there last June. Well she just got her bonus so we are going back.

Where can I find proper bet spreads using the TC with Hi Lo. I was aware of them last year when we went but it has been awhile.

Any help would be appreciated. I love reading you guys' stories, I kind of have to live vicariously through you since I live about 5 hours from a casino.

Thanks.

* I meant to post this in the Card Counting Forum. My apologies.*

vegas spreads

My spreads are::
Strip s17,ds,ls,rsa : 1-20
Strip DD s17,ds spread: 1-8/12/16
DD h17,ds,rsa with great pen at stations:1-12(correction it's 2x12=24)
SD-d10: 1-6/8/10/12

Minimal spread used for break-even:
Strip s17,ds,ls,rsa : 1-4/5
Strip DD s17,ds spread: 1-3
DD h17,ds,rsa with great pen at stations:1-3
assuming some errors and cover

This is what I used, and I mostly get couple of backoffs in my every trip.. good luck..

Thanks Night Stalker.
His spreads would be considered fairly aggressive by most people. Notice where he said he averages five backoffs.

Notice, I didn't say "wrong" because if you want to get the money, and you don't mind backoffs, there's nothing wrong with big spreads.

Personally, I like to keep expenses low with comps, so I usually play rated spread 1-8 or 1-6 on DD, and maybe 1-15 on shoes, except at a few places where they know me as a dumbass.

As far as units as a function of TC, for DD:

0-1: 1
1-2: 2
2-3: 3-4
3-4: 4-6
4-5: 6-8

For shoes:
0-1: 1
1-2: 2-3
2-3: 4-8
3-4: 8-12
4-5: 12-16

I'll often spread to two hands at around +3, but usually in shoe games.

Spreading 1-6 for comps?

Is it acceptable? Can you please drop me a PM telling which casinos you are playing rated using 1-6 spread in DD. When playing rated, I use 1-3 spread on DD and 1-6/8 on shoes.. It would be nice of you to share your experience with comps in Vegas casino and heat on your spread..

So do you suggest I play rated or unrated? I am traveling with my wife and she will occasionally play with me also.

Thanks for the numbers. I have found estimating the TC to be one of the toughest parts of counting. Do you guys look at the shoe or the discard pile to best estimate the TC?

The discard tray is the only way to determine TC--you can't make this determination from the shoe itself.

Advice: no offense, but if you didn't know this, you are definately not ready to put your money at risk. Go through all the lessons in the Blackjack school link on the left first, read all the FAQs and sticky threads, then practice for months till you're flawless.

Look at the discard tray, it's MUCH harder to try to get it from looking at the shoe.

I can't answer the question about ratings. You'll get free food and rooms if you play rated, but if you get caught, they know who you are. I generally play rated because comps are worth real dollars to me.

Finn,

I know all of the ins and outs but do not get to play much. As I stated in my post, calculating the TC is to me the most difficult thing for me to do. I do use the discard pile but wanted to make sure that this is the easiest way.
