I'm not sure what you mean by 6 times and 5 times. The possible outcomes for a four trial event both equal 13 in each direction. This is also assuming an even money game.

Actually on second look I see what you mean by 5 and 6 times. That is irrelevant. The total still equals 13 in each direction meaning it cancels out at 0.

Seems like the parts I've bolded ought to be 0 and -2, respectively.

But it would still net out to 0.

Congratulations! You took a break-even game and found a progression system that breaks even. Well done.

Now let's see what happens when we use that progression system on an even-money bet of roulette.

Code:
[B]RESULT PAYOUT PROBABILITY EV[/B]
wwww 4 5.03% 0.20
wwwl 2 5.59% 0.11
wwlw 2 5.59% 0.11
wlww 2 5.59% 0.11
lwww 2 5.59% 0.11
wwll 0 6.22% 0.00
wlwl 0 6.22% 0.00
wllw 0 6.22% 0.00
lwwl 0 6.22% 0.00
lwlw 0 6.22% 0.00
llww 1 6.22% 0.06
wlll -2 6.91% -0.14
lwll -2 6.91% -0.14
llwl -3 6.91% -0.21
lllw -2 6.91% -0.14
llll -4 7.67% -0.22

[B]TOTALS 0 100.00% -0.22[/B]
So you've taken a game with a house edge of 5.26% and managed to lose 0.22/4 = 5.44% of your money. Not only are you going to lose money, you are going to lose more money.
