Why is it so unusual to have friends in the casino business? Especially in a small town like Atlantic City where everyone eventually knows almost everybody. I'm friends with a number of pit bosses, and suits. I recently attended the wedding of the son of a Harrahs manager and was seated at a table full of casino execs. We spent some time discussing casinos, they were very interested in my take on Vegas and other markets. Obviously I didn't tell them the extent of my involvement, but the manager that invited me to the wedding knows I'm a card counter. Every one of these friendships was struck playing pool or darts in bars that depend on casino workers as their bread and butter.
As far as them putting their jobs on the line by not giving me heat, I wouldn't expect that. By the same token,I'm pretty sure most of them would give me a heads up to hit the road before my play became an issue.
At some point I believe that card counters can actually help a casino. We win more often than the ploppies and this encourages the others to join a "hot" table. Granted if I owned stock in a casino I wouldn't want to see counters spreading 1 to 100 units every evening. But at some point the strong survive and (probably) help the casino more than they hurt.

So many times I have left a table (for a "bathroom break") that when deep into negative numbers just before I left but after a great run of profit. Then upon returning the group at the table says that "the table just went south right after you left". I have to believe that these poor folks were duped into thinking the table really was hot. They were following my lead. One guy even got angry at me for leaving once!

Someone asked if I really play 6:5 and the answer is yes. I see all these posts about people drooling over some kind of .010 expectation increase for some counting system over another. Pitiful waste. A single deck generates much more flux in count even with a piss poor payout on a natural. Might take me three hours of a six deck shoe to acheive the same high count as in a single deck. That kind of patience I'd rather devote to a single deck.

Someone can check the math. I know I give up a sizable number. But when the deck goes plus 8 running count with over a third of the cards spent? Well i say that's a bargain and will happen much more often in single deck.

I won't play an even money for natural game though. At least not yet.

Some ill mannered slob wondered about my "not2brite" screen name. Hint: That's my cover at the casino. I talk in brogue and act drunk. From time to time that is. So please just keep thinking I'm stupid. OK?

wow. Personal attack. Very mature response from someone who is such an important and powerful person. Shows true class. Very helpful to those of us posting here hoping to have a beneficial discussion. Why so bitter?
Why so bitter? Maybe because i was trying to post to just help people and talk of my experiences and you go questioning me and character by calling me a liar, when you know nothing at all about me. I cant stand the little punks on this site who try to call people out and run there mouth because threw a computer screen. And i feel that those same people are the people who keep there mouths shut in person and stand in the corner. That is my read on the situation, you will never see me in here bash anyone says no matter how stupid or wrong i feel it is i allow everyone to tell there storys and share experiences without trying to call them out and say there stories are a lie. You may see me correct someone on something in which they are wrong about something that is a fact, but never on personal experiences or storys. I have delt with alot of people in my life and in the business i am in i have to be able to read people by what they say and how they act, I doubt any of the people who run there mouths here will show at the bj bash because they are scared of any possible confrontation. This is the same reason i will walk in with my head held high, because i dont run my mouth and if i ever did i would be fully prepared to back it up face to face. I love the BJ BASH for this reason it will only be the true APS who are here to help and make friends and have a good time, the punks will be home hiding behinde there keyboards where they belong nutless at home.

Takingfromindians there are a couple things that don't add up with your posts.

First you claim to be a a successful business person, which I have no problem with since there was no reason to believe otherwise until now. Then you follow it up with personal attacks on people that are about as intelligent as the grade 6 bully. Touching yourself to lord of the rings paraphenalia? Pretty witty for a grade 6 kid, not so much for a successful business person. I would hope that when a Judge friend of your's takes a friendly jab at you during one of your dinner parties, you respond with something like " Why don't you go touch yourself in your moms basment!" or " Why don't you go play with your lord of the rings dolls you nerd!"

You also post like you are in high school still, as a successfull business person I hope your grammer and format is a bit better in your electronic correspondence with the company owners, CEO's, lawyers and judges you deal with.

And while I'm at it with a name like "Taking from Indians" you are clearly racist. You should stop with that kind of behaviour since it will get you nowhere in life.

Guys. Both takinfromindians97 and kewljason have made some very helpful posts to everyone. Can we please stop slandering each other and have a constructive discussion about the topic?

takinfromindians97, I am on-board with getting on the good side of the pit crew. For me personally I believe the biggest benefit has come in the form of comps/average bet/ratings. I use Reno as my example because it is actually where I logged the most hours last year, and where I am on the best terms with these men and women.

Because my sessions there are so short, I wouldn't expect my comps to be so generous, but I believe they are. And I'm not talking about free rooms and suites . . . everyone knows they're practically paying people to stay there these days. I haven't payed for a meal in a Reno casino for a long time, and we're not just talking about a buffet pass, more like the upscale places (by Reno standards, anyway) and steakhouses. One store also comps all my dry cleaning and laundry when I stay for a while (although I could also do it for free at my girlfriend's relative's house :)). It's a pretty small place, and I have run into these folks at places like the State Fair and Summit Mall, and I know just a little gesture of sincerity can go a long way.

But I will also vouch for kewljason. This guy has has some serious stones to have walked away from his job (which I suspect was unfulfilling, although we have never personally talked about it) more than five years ago and to make most, if not all, of his income since that time being an AP. And I give him even more credit for being able to pull it off primarily in the craptastic joints of Atlantic City.

I have no problem with takinfromindians disagreement with me and would have liked to seen the discussion of the pros and cons of this strategy.
That would have been nice.

I know, while on the subject of the value of making friends in a casino, let's discuss the AP pros and cons of royally pissing off for no reason an alleged nerdy, weird, masturbating, somehow with no nuts, virgin snotty little punk with whom you actually can't wait to see at the casino you will be playing at.

What's the upside of that you AP Indian guy you?

Aren't there some rules around here so I don't have to read crap like this?

That's it- consider maybe banning Licentia for perceived defects in intelligence, suspend someone, eventually, for a few days for alleged crap like this in Private Messages, but I guess stuff like this is somehow all OK?

I'm coming to BJ Bash Indian guy, looking forward now to it more than ever, and you've made no friend with me. Don't plan on winning any money - I tend to count out, often somewhat loudly, apparently it's some kind of mild Tourette Syndrome I've been told, while standing behind a table.

Tourette Syndrome, i feel bad now. but in my experience you usually do that sitting at the table. was that how come you unleashed the outburst at me when you got a blackjack and i failed to tell you that you was gonna get one?

Sorry CP and sage, but this kind of nonsense is exactly why you will not find me at any kind of BJ Bash that invites any who wish to attend. Its this kind of mentality that turns me off to meeting supposed AP's from these forums. Unless, someone I know vouches for someone, its not worth it to me to associate with this kind of ego. I admit I have what I believe to be a well deserved ego myself, but it is not one you will find making threats and insults for such minor inconsequential things. I need not be in earshot of someone shouting to the rafters of there greatness or toughness. I have seen a lot of both kinds, never once did they have to tell me for me to know.
Since when do we invite any who want to attend???

I have always said that security is the main concern.

I also want attendees that respect one another and put on no airs or OneUpsmanship, I have been most clear on this from the beginning.

This post was just today, a few minutes ago, brought to my attention, by a renowned MMOA Member. The poster in question knows nothing of "BASH" particulars and because of the above and concerns voiced by others will not be attending.

This is indeed a sad occurence.:(

It would be difficult for me to consider anyone who works on the other side of the table to be my friend. Rush always says "Stop trying to be friends with your enemies" and what he means is that there are times when two people or groups have irreconcilable differences due to their different goals and trying to be nice to them is only setting yourself up to be a sucker.

Jealous

I always try to be polite and cordial to the greatest extent possible to the pit people. Sometimes this is just an impossibility though, since many of them are humorless, anal retentive, stuffy, snooty, sneering people with the personality of a turnip.

I know what it is, TakinFromTheIndians... I know EXACTLY what it is! You are jealous that I have the first edition collector set of the Lord Of The Rings figurines to include that hot looking elf chick that I have adorned with hot-looking elf chick lingerie. You know what erotic times I am having in my basement in my fantasy world of doing this hot elf chick and you are TOTALLY JEALOUS!----and NO you can't borrow her! You are going to have to go on EBay and get your own!

Friends with the pit

in my opinion is good camo, especially if in your conversation with the pit and dealers you throw in some numbers.

I believe that most casino people think, probably correctly, that you can't count and EVER mention a number in a conversation without messing up their mental count. Just make sure it doesn't!
