Can I get a general consensus here.

How many of you guys have yet to relinquish (not literally) your ID of any sort?

Is it inevitable sooner or later to relinquish it since casinos like to get as many excuses/opportunities to get a hold of your identity, or so I have read in here?

Or are there a lot of savvy players who have gone on quite successfully with their business with their anonymity intact - aside from avoiding CTR's/MTL's?

My actual concern is, is it worth more in the long run to preserve your anonymity, as is your right, while risking SAR's, making a scene, getting backed off, etc.?

Newbie questions, I know. Thanks in advance.

No one?

OK, did I come on too strong with my question? I apologize if I did. There's some threads that talk about the priority of keeping your privacy and identity intact and then there are some threads that discuss about getting player cards to avoid suspicion for the long term? And a lot of threads kind of says it's really not that big of a deal when "made" (does that mean they know your identity as well?), just come back at a different date.

Do most casinos established your identity already before backing you off or they really don't distinguish between the anonymous and the ID'd?

I have been playing in casinos for a couple months now and only within the past 2 weeks did I actually give them my ID to get a players cards. I want to start getting comped, and getting a players card is the easiest if not the only way.

With that being said I usually only get one if they actually ask me if I want one, trying to keep them from writing in their computer "player rejected being rated" or whatever it is they put there and trying to look like a tourist. :)

Eventually the casinos will find a way to identify you. Most top pros have had at least one legal name change.
Wow, I've heard of fake ID's but that is a whole new level of dedication. Thanks for the insight. :)

The answer to the OP depends a lot on your own priorities and preferences, and varies on a case by case basis. I almost never get players cards, and I regret most of the instances where I have, but that's just me. It's entirely possible to get down plenty of action without one.

If your betting big without giving them a card, and if they determined your no threat, they will sic a host on you.
Actually they will sic a host on you whether or not they think you're a threat. I've had plenty of times where I felt the host was simply another attempt to get my name and I've had a few times, where I get backed off very quickly after the host comes.
