I learned to count last year and spent around 40 hours in my local casinos and Vegas. I played with a small bank roll (EV was only $5 an hour) but was able to make $700. After expenses I was at $100... Not too exciting. Haha But my goal at the time was just to gain experience so I could make a more substantial amount in the future.

Anyways, I haven't played for 10 months now. I graduated with my bachelors in accounting and plan to start building up a nice sized BR soon.

Even though I'm not currently playing BJ it's exciting reading what everyone is up too on this forum.

Stay with it.

Congrats on degree and good luck 21Menace! Hopefully you'll land a professional job soon and can build that bankroll. Keep up with card counting in the casino environment to keep you abilities "fresh". Even if it's a trip once, or every other week. That's what I'm doing now after many years being away from the tables.

Yes, congrats to you. Sounds like you have your priorities in order and when you decide to resume blackjack play you will be prepared and hopefully do well. :)

The best advantage play you made all year. The profession is not exactly exciting, unless you're a rare breed, but it is definitely a strong advantage play. Congratulations!

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

It was actually my girlfriend who rekindled my excitement for blackjack. She started asking about counting and my experience with it. She was really interested so I ended up giving her an overview of everything. After only 20 minutes of practicing counting down a deck she could get through a full deck in less than 40 seconds. It took me hours to get that fast. I figure it's because she's part asian so I don't feel too bad.
