Casino Dealer

I occasionally count every once in a while when I go to the casino and I was wondering if was would be a horrible idea to get a job at the casino. There is two casinos I play at and they are rivals. Should I have any concerns or expect to be put into any database as a dealer. Also If they ask me if I can count or have heard about it what should I say....

Under no circumstance should you reveal your interest in counting
if you plan to continue to play at one or both clubs. zg

Some casinos won't let you play there if you work there.
The dealers I've talked to aren't allowed to play at the casinos they work at, but they're free to play at any other casino, including those owned by the same parent company.

I am a dealer and we cannot play table games in our own casino... plus all the local casinos tend to know I am a dealer so treat me accordingly - sometimes for the best, sometimes for the worst - but always cautiously with regards play. It's got to the point that I don't even try and count in my neighbouring casinos as it would seem foolish to say the least. I practice counting there for sure - but bet small.. maybe make a crazy bet on a 'whim' when the count is unreal.

As regards telling your associates - word got around that I was mad about counting and practicing it as I dealt.... and that I have a BJ set up at home with shoe, charts, etc. It has been received about 50/50 by my bosses. 50% view me with absolute suspicion - 50% view me as a possible valuable asset to the casino... so my advice would be to keep it schtum as Zen says. I'm now downplaying it all and shutting up saying 'I have lost too much money to be interested'...and 'if it were really that easy then everyone would be doing it'.

Definitely do not go to dealer school/audition and do anything to stand out. No card tricks, no fancy shuffling of chips, no crazy betting strategies - they will kick you out first day.

Peace.

I'd claim i've heard of the term counting but not to much detail, or give some phony information like ' oh yes isn't that where you memorize each card '

I've seen a few counters in my casino. I never say anything as it's not illegal.... and if the pit bosses aren't savvy enough to spot it then that's their look out. Casinos have a lisence to print money as it is. Hang on.. I'm sounding like a counter now;)
