-Did they offer RSA? If they're doing H17 8d, they should have RSA offered too.

-Was the 8d game hand-shuffled or ASM shuffled?
SK: I did not notice if they offered RSA or not. I was there for other reasons than cc'ing. The 8d tables are all ASM's. The 6d in the HL and the dd is hand shuffled. The 6D shuffle is the same as all the MGM properties.

How big was the casino?
Aria is big, in terms of Blackjack action.
Wynn is big.
Did Cosmopolitan have lots and lots of tables?
I sometimes like to wander and table hop.
Was there a direct walkway that connects Cosmopolitan to Aria & Bellagio?
AI: Cosmopolitan is chopped into about 10-12 pits, many with 4-8 tables, so it was tough to tell how big it was in the limited time I spent there. The HL room had about 5 tables all 6D, the main floor had about 20 tables of 8D, 8 dd games, 8 sd 6:5 and at least one bj switch and SP21 both of which were csm's.

There is an exterior walkway that connects Cosmo to Aria (through Crytals). It can be accessed by going outside on street level on LV Blvd (no escaltor!) or by going to the 2nd floor inside Cosmo. There is some kind of connection to Belagio but I did not look at it. The signs said "escalator to Belagio".

Cosmopolitan so far is not living up to the locals image that it was trying to project and without a list of quality fish to fry, they will die. Locals are not going to drive to the strip to play crappy $50 games. Even if they drop the minimums precipitously, the games are not attractive enough to entice the local market. If you have stock in Deutsch Bank, I'd dump it now.

HockeXpert,

Thanks for the answers! I appreciate it.

Update on Cosmo conditions coming from the Wizard Of Vegas website...

Survey was made AFTER opening night; specifically the 17th.

Games are (in ascending order of minimum bet)

$15 6d H17 LS RSA DAS HE: 0.48% (you'd think they'd offer a $10 table at least, but the Cosmo is a kind of small casino... 1/2 Aria's size)

$25 2d H17 NS NRSA DAS HE: 0.45%

And in High Limit Land...

$100 6d S17 LS RSA DAS HE: 0.28% (i.e. liberal rules)

$200 2d S17 NS NRSA DAS HE: 0.27%

Overall, this is an improvement. However, I'd think Cosmo should offer a $10 8d H17 ASM-shuffled game as well, to cater to the lower rollers, and I hope that the $15 6deck game is hand shuffled.

So they've gotten better since their opening. However, Cosmo's conditions are still a bit tight; especially in the "no S17 for less than $100 per hand" department.

Unless I can get those liberal rules for cheaper, OR they are more generous with comps, I think I'll confine my gambling to MGM properties during my next Vegas trip.

Sourced from this post at VegasTripping: http://www.vegastripping.com/news/blog/3790/necessity-the-mother-of-invention-the-casino-cabana/

Apparently, in the "Boulevard Casino" segment of the casino (at the front of the building), there are Dealer Stands on Soft 17 tables in the "Casino Cabanas" section; table mins $25 peak and $15 offpeak (!!! S17 at sub-$25!!!!). Game is 8 decks, dealt from an ASM-shuffled shoe.

I played a good S17 game (DAS, LS, RSA, S17, 8D) for $10 at off-peak time at Monte Carlo, it shouldn't be a surprise to find it at $15.

Its good that MC is still offerring 8d ASM S17 liberal rules at $10 per hand during offpeak times. I know its jacked up to $25 during peak hours.

The reason it is surprising to get sub-$25 S17 is because it is rare... only places I know you can get it are MGM Grand, Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay during offpeak times (and even then, there's usually only 1 or 2 tables of it and they aren't easy to find).

That said, I avoid Monte Carlo because the dealers are rude. One even scolded me for saying "thank you" too much (!!!).

Yeah, I know its a value-oriented casino but that doesn't mean people have to be unpleasant.

I think MC is still the best spot on the Strip for blackjack. Heck, even the lousy Excalibur has higher limits than MC at times. And so far, I didn't have a major issue with the dealers there. I think the rudest dealers of all were at Bellagio (maybe the attitude comes with the age).

And despite what you say about the value-oriented casino, they still have a pretty good atmosphere, with well-behaved clientele. Maybe not there with Aria, or Cosmo but still worlds apart from El Cortez, or The Plaza, which are told to have liberal BJ rules.

Not a single mention of Cosmo's pene?? C'mon!! zg
The double entendre you are using is alluding to something that is not to be discussed in public. and that goes for both meanings of the word "pene." if you are interested in knowing the size and depth of either meaning, please discuss the matter privately so as to not alienate and embarass Mr. Cosmo.

My impression of the "neighborhood feel" for their restaurants and shops was not to entice locals to come their but to provide a certain "at home" feeling among the high rollers they hope will flock there from around the world. They are definitely too high priced for the local trade, and they know it.

That makes a heck of a lot more sense. I took the RJ too seriously when they were hyping the place. Inside it looks just like Fontainbleau Miami Beach because Cosmo bought the FB LV's furniture. Definitely too upscale for the Sam's Town crowd.

UPDATE:

Another person on VegasTripping confirmed that Cosmo BJ is 100% H17 outside the High Limit room (which begins at $100 per hand, naturally).

So yes, Cosmo is H17 for all non-black-chip bettors.

Additionally, I believe they also have 8d ASM H17 tables which occasionally can be found at $10 per hand.

From what I've heard, Cosmo's BJ is 100% CSM-free, which is a good thing (although some of their other games involve CSMs).

Bullsh*t. Since when? Nonsense! zg
since "pene" is italian for penis. and since I've never seen deck penetration discussed in public. I assumed both were private matters(literally and figuratively) and were topics that are considered taboo in nature. Personally, I don't like discussing anybody's pene. how good it is, or how bad it is. you get the picture.

Well thanks a lot Jack_Black!!! I'm never having penne pasta again!
Penne is actually the plural form of penna, which means pen, quill, feather, what have you. rest assured that you are eating pen shaped pasta. although I have seen real pene shaped pasta complete with a set of testicoli. there's also seno shaped pasta for men, or other lovers of women.

Pasta Puttanesca translated means, pasta of the whore.
