DD v Six Deck?

#1
Why? Which is easier to profit from AP Blackjack? Which do you prefer and why?

I like both, six deck low stakes can be fun, but, DD is so much fun with 1-3 players who are APs getting wins on using the knowledge of past to predict the future.

Double deck games are generally superior here in Vegas. But there is a price to pay for that. They are watched more closely. For that reason I play mostly 6 deck with some double deck mixed in.

Until recently, I played almost exclusively shoe games. Many times 8 deck, with very mediocre conditions, so give me a 6 deck game with good rules, like surrender and decent penetration and I am in heaven. It kind of seems shoe games, although not the best games is my specialty or my little niche. Also having played so many 6/8 deck games, double deck games seems like more shuffling than playing to me. Gets frustrating.

I prefer DD as long as there are less than 3 total players. DD & 6D rules are roughly the same in my area; however, I flock to the DD when given the chance. I'll leave the reasons to your imagination :)

The only playable games in my neck of the woods are 6 or 8 deck. The pitch games are terrible. My only experience with DD shoe is in reno.I got beat up and realized I needed to adjust my play. I went up to the room and studied DD strategy for a couple hours. When I went back down it seemed pretty easy to win. I dont think I had another losing session for the rest of the 3 days I was there. It was a long time ago. Its hard to pick but I think the 6D shoe game just because Im so familiar with it.

It would always depend first on rules+pene.
Those things being equal = fewer decks = greater count volatility = higher EV per hour. zg

Guess that boils it down to its very essence.

Double deck

I prefer DD. Penetration and rules are crucial. Ya gotta scout the tables. But I play mostly in Vegas. There are excellent DD opportunities to be had there. But like KJ says they are watched closely, or as Flash said in an earlier thread, "The Vegas DD games come pre loaded with heat." Those statements are spot on. Pick your poison. :)

Thanks for your input!

The answers posters wrote were about the way I thought things would go. Deep Pen, good rules, good variance. What all players want in good BJ.

Creeping Panther,

I'm good for as little that I have played, I need to learn better risk reward and play better Basic Strategy when the shoe is even. I'd rather learn on their dime than go into my pocket. So, I don't play as large as many players I see in the HL games in the Midwest casinos. I need to increase my spread more frequently when indicated. Be less conservative.
