Do Disguises Work?

Okay lets say you've been barred from your favorite Las Vegas casino, and you want to continue playing there. Would it be suspicious if you were to "lets say" ...dress up as a clown and start playing blackjack there again?

Any thouhts or is there anyone with experience already trying this?

Ps. Do you think theyd notice if I tried this?

My guess would be that it would work if you did it well. Grow a beard, dye your hair, cut your hair differently, add or remove glasses. Wardrobe changes can help, khakis and dress shirt or polo shirt, drug dealer/white rapper show (I'm assuming based on statistics that you're a white male), degenerate crackhead in sweatpants and an old shirt, young rich kid (rugby shirt, loafers).

Just do normal-ish stuff and you'll be fine. Don't try to dress up as a woman, or don blackface, or anything like that.

I'll let you know the answers to the clown and blackface disguises in two days... Strip or Downtown?

But seriously, a fairly elaborate disguise has a good shot at throwing off facial recognition software, or someone looking through a surveillance camera, but a on-the-ball floorman might still recognize you even with an elaborate disguise if he has a reason to. I think Ken Uston wrote about running into this problem in the 80's.

For facial recognition to be effective,it needs a clear shot of the persons eyes.It is easily defeated. But fooling the PB can be harder. I'm 6'3 and 350 pounds. I tend to stand out. A 5'9 165 pound man would get over much easier.

In your case, a serious diet and workout program could not only do wonders for your waistline and cholesterol scores, but also for your wallet!

Moo is most correct

If your stakes are high enough, add custom wigs. They can be expensive and ALWAYS use real hair. The synthetic wigs are very obvious on camera. A bad fake wig is a big tip to watch you for the eye. I use disguises quite effectively. You need to keep track (pictures and notes) of each disguise and the card you used, if any. It will allow you to play each store more than you would otherwise. You have to be good at it and don't try to use a disguise that is too "over the top".

given the dozens of casinos you could play in at Vegas, why limit your action to just one? why not just play as yourself in any of the hundreds of vegas casinos you've not been banned from?

You can do it on Halloween for sure. Tommy Hyland once played as Santa. zg

Go on holloween

Every been to Vegas during Holloween? I see people playing in all sorts of costumes, even masks.

Professional makeup folks can be expensive but can do an excellent job in changing ones look.

Hell man, if I ever see anyone bigger than me counting cards, I'll know who it is!

Guys like us are well served by learning the art of female impersonation. Nothing like a huge guy in drag to throw off surveillance, and empty out a table damned fast.

Not in my experience. I tried dressing up as a Carmelite nun once. Complete and utter failure.... May have had something to do with the Marlboros and the Heineken though.

for real i think and im being totally serious as you know you will all regret not doing this, that on halloween a bunch of us dress up as like some famous welll know group such as the fantastic four, and all assault the same table of a casino untill we get kicked out, it woudl make headlines,

"Fantastic four too fantastic for Trump"

I would die a happy man if i made a newspaper doing that. So whos in?

First of all, if you play a 1-15 spread with black chips, there are MAYBE a dozen casinos total you can play for more than a few minutes without getting unwanted attention. Second, at that level you don't want them to remember you, so you don't play more than once per shift per two months. Thirdly, there are not "hundreds of vegas casinos".

By having disguises you will get much more play from the few casinos that tolerate high dollar players. If you go in every two weeks or so as the same person using the same card, you'll be remembered soon. If you have different looks and different cards, you get much much more play per casino per shift.

You don't play at high levels nor in Las Vegas often, do you?

The secret of blackjack profitability is playing perfectly with little or no cover. The secret of longevity is to not be recognized in the few casinos that welcome big bettors without massive scrutiny.

Disguises are a great way to play enough to overcome the "long run". If you can't play enough to get the hours in, you cannot be assured of your investment paying off. It is just that simple.

You guys have me wondering, I have taken Metropois for over $1300 in the past two weeks. I am not in danger of being barred am I? Unlike you guys, I buy in for a small amount, trying to keep $100 as my bankroll. I have played for the past three nights and left with at least $300. I am ok, right? I am not even counting, just using basic strategy and staying away from the evil female dealers there. I know you, guys think I am crazy, but if you ever come through Southern Illinois, try a dealer named Donna. She will empty you entire bankroll.
