Double 10 v Dealer 9 but not 11 v 10

I notice that preferred advice for 6 decks, dealer stands soft 17, DAS, no peek, applying here in Sydney is:
Hit 11 v a dealer's 10
Double 10 v a dealer's 9

Can anyone with more experience than me explain the logic for what appears to be a discrepency. I've seen matrixes with recommended double for 11 v 10.

Help! I've stopped doubling 11 v 10 and want some reassurance.

From what I understand it is because of the fact that the dealer can get a BJ and that you will lose both original bet and the double if he does.
When the dealer has a 9 he can't get blackjack.

Thats the way I read it as well.
But I thought In Oz,if the dealer had the ace underneath,you lost only the original bet.In Europa,you lose both.

I can confirm, in Sydney, you lose only the original bet if the dealer makes blackjack.

I guess that brings double 11 against 10 back in again.

Do it. Dont question BS. There are many times that you will loose hands yet, The math is in your favor. Save more money to play with, dont think your a stud walking in there with 150.

I really don't know what the last comment means. I don't think mdlbj has a clue how much I walk into the casino with, and is therefore not in a position to comment at all.

I was not questioning BS at all, just seeking guidance. Secondly, if you check some other threads, you'll see references to composition-dependent BS, board counting and card counting, all of which supercede vanilla bs, according to far more experienced players than me.

Its because people don't know what they are doing.

I see doubles on 9 vs 8 and 7 all the time in brisbane and never see 11 doubled against a 10. I have done the sims and math and the standard basic stat is right. You double 11 v 10 and below and 9 against 3 though 6 only.

I believe you don't see it much mainly because people just assume you double when you have a better card, but never against a dealer ten card. This is the way most people play it.
