I’ve noticed that the EC has really been getting classier over the past few years. The décor is nicer and the clientele is MUCH more tolerable. They seem to actually attract tourists now instead of just hardcore gamblers and homeless people. I noticed on my last trip that they are adding a median with grass and little neon signs out front, and the influx of hipster kids going to the Beauty Bar at night seems to keep away most of the “heybros” that used to lurk on the streets. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing for APs, but the old joint sure is growing up.

Yep,EC is going upscale. There are even toothpicks available at Careful Kittys these days.
They are putting in a pool during the next round of construction.
Certainly are a lot more whitebread tourists there these days.
And no 6/5 blackjack.

EC is on Fremont Street, about two blocks east of the Fremont Street Experiance. Its about a five minute walk from The Golden Nugget/Binions/4 Queens.
It has very good low limit BJ,is very generous with comps and a great place to meet some local characters. Its steakhouse is one of my favorite places to eat in Vegas.Salad,Shrimp Cocktail,Porterhouse Steak and a Fred Flintstone sized glass of wine for about $40,if you don't have any comps or coupons.
I often stay in a vintage suite for next to nothing, when I'm comped out elsewhere.
Thanks. I'll be sure to visit EC when I come to LV in early October.

I don't recommend walking around outside the area around EC, not a great area. Park in their garage, or better yet, use their valet parking.
Do you mean at night, or anytime? A lot of places I go to in LV make me a bit wary especially at night, like the Cue Club, which is located at Commercial Center on East Sahara. And just off the strip around East Twain is not a place I feel comfortable, or any of the areas just east of the strip, although it's usually got enough people to keep it relatively safe. Not crazy about the area around Arizona Charlies on Decatur either. For that matter I've even had some uneasy moments on the strip itself in the wee wee hours of the morning. I've learned to go everywhere by car and park in the casinos garages.

i think overall vegas - even downtown - is fairly safe even at night.

you want a real adventure head to the bighorn (not the longhorn) at 1 am, now that is something.

overall though safety and comfort levels are often relative. i lived on the south side of chicago for several years, and after than it takes a lot to shake me. this doesn't mean i'm a tough guy, but rather a smart and observant guy which goes a lot farther than the former in terms of safety.

i was expecting downtown to be really dangerous, and the closest to danger i've seen is at the western and even that was tame compared to the gang members shooting each other in my 'hood for shopping at the wrong convenience store - no joke.

You know, I went to the south side of Chicago, and I didn't think it was too terrible. Maybe I missed the bad part...

If you survived the area around Commerercial Center without being raped by the multitude of transvestite hookers, you'll be at home in EC.
