Ever Play "Back-Alley" B. J.?

I never did, learned in a casino, then read Thorp (1965!). At work, I got into a game with the janitor who cleaned our office each night (yeah, I know, but he was on BREAK!).

Strange difference in outcome! I never thought about it, but when HE dealt, sometimes he quit with a very low total. Talk up screwing up the predictions!

And, he got upset when I wanted to see his hole card if I bust, saying there was no need to see it. He had no clue that seeing dealt cards could help one's game!

This guy actually won some money from me! We changed dealing back and forth a few times; he actually preferred NOT to deal. That was when I won most often!

Ever play BJ this way? It sure was new to me! imp

In high school, we played a game that was single deck. BJ and 5 card charlies paid 2-1, if you busted and the dealer busted, it was a push, split Aces and get a face it was BJ, multiple card draw on split Aces, double down on 10,11 only. We'd pick for high card to see who dealt and the dealer generally made money. Nickle minimum, quarter max. I remember winning $5 one lunch period. Back then my after school job paid $1.85 an hour, and gas was about .60 cents a gallon.

Don't play blackjack outside of a casino unless you know how to spot cheating. It's WAY too easy to cheat at blackjack.

I play alot of BJ at home with freinds. Dealer sets min/max bet (usually no max unless the dealer is low on cash). BJ pays 3:2 only if you bet an even amount of chips. Double Deck.
