Free $25 at the Stratosphere

The Statosphere's (coupon) fun book they give you at the player's counter has a coupon in it worth up to a $25 match when you hit a blackjack. You can use it on any blackjack you like. And you don't have to place it before the deal. After you get a blackjack you use it. When I BJ'd on a $10 bet I asked and was told they'd pay me an extra $15. So, I saved it and when I hit a BJ on a $20 bet, I used it and received $55. My friend I was playing with did the same thing. I was amazed it worked this way. You can only get one coupon book every 30 days. But this is free money!

Ya know, I've been a member of this site for a while and read it for a real long time trying to learn the finer points of the game. But I've never posted because of this type of "expert" response. I live in Chicago and get to Vegas 2-3 times a year and I'm anything but a shill. I don't even stay at the Statosphere, the Sahara comps me. Sooner or later someone here will back up what I said in my 1st post.

I would not look at it as free money but a loss leader for the casino. Match play coupon is only worth half its face value.
They want you to play at their casino table and is throwing in some incentive for you to do it. Since you are at their casino it is likely that you would give them some business instead of some other casino.

I remember the Strat as having a pretty good funbook, with multiple coupons. I don't know the rules with the funbook, there are probably some restrictions on who can get it (hotel guest, new players card signups, whatever), but I think I heard of one guy who managed to scam one daily.

But it's not like it's a promo that going to cause it's own trip to Vegas.

The strat was also the only place in Vegas so far where another counter stumbled on my table. Awkward!

Wow, what a fantastic promo for the day for a BS player who just wants to have fun playing several hours of +EV BJ if you happen to be in Vegas.

This is not a match play. You can't lose on this. You use it when you hit a BJ.
It's value is $25,if you play $20 a hand.

You've just got to play hands until you've got a blackjack, so it's not a one-hand wonder like a matchplay.

I still support the concept, though.

OK Shadroch, full face value. But like others says there are conditions. Hotel guest, new sign up and so on. To get the full $25 bonus you have to play $20 a hand. Not some people's cup of tea.
How soon can you get a BJ. From experience I would say about 1/2 hour into play. At 100 rounds per hour average you are putting your $1000 at risk. So it is not exactly free money. Like I said it is an incentive or loss leader to get you to play in their casino.

Not to belabor a point, but at 100 hands an hour, you would play 50 hands in a half hour. You can expect a BJ every 20-21 hands. But you never know when one is coming.I've gotten one on my very first hand about 5% of the time. I've also seemingly played for hours without getting one.You can play less, its just to get the top value, you need to bet $20.
Yes,its a gimmick designed to get people to come in and play,or to talk about it.As are its cousins, the match play coupon.

So Shadroch do you still stand by your statement that "You can't lose on this"

The planet hollywood where I recently stayed with two free room comps always gives $50 match plays to its guests. I wait until the count is very high, then drop them into play. Works for me. They sometimes have a good 6deck game, H17, DAS, DOA, with surrender, and split multiple aces, but the pen varies from time to time, so don't just sit down and play.

Why not bet $25?

If you had a coupon that would double your blackjack payout up to a $25 bet why would you play around with $10 and $20 bets it would give you a 3 to 1 payout on blackjack and that would be worth betting the full $25 a hand. Than if you are not comfortable with $25 bets pull back to your normal $5 and $10 bets after you hit your $25 blackjack that pays 3 to 1 when blackjack pays 3 to 1 you have a huge advantage of the top! Max value of coupon is $37.50. When ever I get a matchplay coupon that will double my win I never ever bet less than the matchplay because I have an advantage of over 40% and win or lose advantages like that put money in my pocket and betting them is an investment and not a gamble.

A week ago I got a coupon from the Silver Legacy that payed me $25 just for showing up and cashing the coupon I didn't even have to gamble. The Hyatt also gave me two $40 coupons redamable on seperate days just for coming into the Hyatt!

Looks like the casinos are giving out free money.
$25 free money is nothing to sneaze at. What is the line up like to get this free money. Why bother trying to make money gambling in the casino.

You are learning. Atlantic City is great for casinosgiving away money. The Sands was the best, but they are no longer around.Vegas is much tighter.

I've used this coupon many times. You get your funbook at the players club desk. All you need to be is a players club member. I think that you can get a coupon book every 7 days, but not quite sure. There is also a craps match play in this book, $10 I believe. These were the 1st 2 coupons in the book when I was there last month.
