I am going to Detroit in about a month, and I am curious about the casinos. I always play the shoe games because I ahve a $5000 BR and don't feel it's big enough to play the other games. I am curious about which casino might be the best for me up there. What kind of penetration do they have? Do they have a lot of tables, and should I be concerned about heat? What kind of side bets do they have? The particular game rules too if you have it, but I can probably look up that part on line? Any info. here would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
I was there this past week.
Do not waste your time, the games are horrid.
First off, I don't remember Casino Windsor. But I stopped by Motor City, Greektown, and MGM Grand this past week. The most playable game was at MGM Grand, but even that was a pile of dog crap.
the Rules were pretty consistent:
EITHER
A few 8 deck but mostly CSM
DAS, DOA, split 3 times No Surrender
Dealer HITS soft 17 on just about ALL Tables (including Spanish 21)
The only Stand on all 17 I saw was at the $50 min bet mark.
Penetration levels:
Motor City: 60%
MGM Grand : 70%
Greektown: 60%
MGM did offer a Single Deck 6 to 5 and a double exposure. Neither was open when I was there though.
Table limits $ 15, 20, 25 minimum were pretty prevalent on a Wednesday night. I saw ONE $10 table at each.
Ploppy heat was high. A lot of grouchy players. I did play for a little bit at Greektown.. but more out of the fact that I didn't want to jump into rush hour traffic. Dealers weren't very friendly either
Expect to pay parking at Greektown as well.
Sidebets are for Perfect pairs and also "double spot" blackjack. Which is basically each player has two spots to play. Anything to get the $$ faster.
And to top it all off, none of the casinos are in the best neighborhood.
I would avoid these casinos, spend time doing something else. Like throwing $$ out of your hotel window. It has higher EV.
