I was playing last night at my favorite store and the inevitable happend. The dealer asks a player if he saw the movie 21 and the reaction was funny. The player said yea he saw it and it was a good movie based on a true story but no way could a person really know how to do that. The dealer asked if he wanted to know how to count he could show him. I just looked at the others like you got to be kidding please not tonight. The conversation went the way like all useless ones do. I think alot of people are going to think they can kick butt now if they learn how. blackchipjim

The dealer asked if someone wants to know how to count?
"I will teach you: Stand on everything thats 10 or below, hit all stiffs, double only when the dealer shows a 10 or ace. Count small cards as -1 and big cards as +1, bet when the count is high... muahahah, thats how you count in our casino:devil: "

I was counting cards at one of my favorite casinos in AC on Friday Night, and a ploppy started a conversation with the dealer about that movie. I just sat their quiet, the ploppy said something like "I dont think their is way you can count cards with 6 decks, maybe with two or one, but not six." The dealer said "Theres a way" then the ploppy said "I Dunno", then even though im a bad actor the pit boss was watching and i said "Yeah, i think its impossible too" LOL.

good or bad

I would think if they talk the movie to death it would be a good thing. I won't waste my money on movies anyway. I do think that it may pan out for us who have a good act to use the yo-yo's that talk alot about nothing. Sitting there and rolling your eyes and shaking ones head or even the look of " sure I got a bridge in the desert I'll sell ya" look goes over great. I played without any heat because the dealer was going to teach us how to count. I love this game and the people who play it. blackchipjim

i experienced this last weekend as well at a 25 min table. it was priceless. pit boss walked by and laughed at this little tutorial. (i really think casinos are loving the renewed popularity from the movie.) i only stayed because the count got juicy and i was able to spread more than i normally do. but after 5 minutes i had to walk because the hands/hour just dropped conisiderably.

I love conversations about card counting at the table. The best thing to do is to go watch Rain Man, and pretend everything you know about card counting comes from that movie (you have to memorize every card in order to count them, etc).

In my experience, shying away from conversation draws more attention than actively participating.

talking

I would imagine talking on subjects that are deemed nonsense would be a good cover. If you go to a casino on a fairly regular basis and may be known to alot of dealers and pit bosses you should already have your act down pat. I would say that you are young because older players don't give a rat's ^%$ what someone says at the table. If you are younger playing naive is your best play and will draw the least heat. The more you say about the game you play the more flags you risk throwing up. If you are young talk about the good looking girls and the wild night you had the night before. blackchipjim
