Hi all and thanks for your attention!
I'm a Italian boy and reading the content of your very interesting website I tryed to "Beat the Dealer":
1) From your webpage I printed the "Custom" Basic Strategy for two decks and European BlackJack Settings;
2) From card counting edge website I printed the "Hi Lo strategy"

Onlooker to realize if this system really work I put the card on my father "shoe" and with a lot of chip I start to play:

Match 1) I have simulated 3 Player at table everyone with 12 pieces; Every hand I take notes of current count with PAPER and PEN (for being sure to not commit error!!!); For every player I play rigorously the basic Strategy; Unfortunately the "table" don't became "hot" (max count +4) then I try again

Match 2) the "table" don't became "hot" (max count +3) then I try a different way

Match 3-4-5-6) Before start playing I have removed from my two decks fourteen small cards and start with courrent count at +14 ("Hard Core Table!!); Applying the same rules of previous match I have obtained:
Match 3= Win 18 pieces
Match 4= lose 22 pieces!!!!!
Match 5= lose 2 pieces
Match 6= egalite'

Why this Orrible result?? I have Applied perfectly the basic strategy and the Hi Lo Strategy!!
(Sorry I forget a thing: I bet 1 piece if 1<=count<4 2 pieces if 4<=count<7 and 4 pieces for count>=8)

Thanks A lot
P.S. Sorry for my english

Playing blackjack takes a lot of patience. The cards will only be positive (+1 true count or above) about 25% of the time so you will spend 75% of your time waiting.

As far as the terrible results, that is normal. Your short-term results will swing wildly up and down. It is very important to have a big enough bankroll to endure the bad streaks. There is a section in the FAQ thread about EV and variance. That will help you understand what sort of wild results to expect during a session. You could easily win or lose 30-90 bets in an hour. You have to be ready for that.

Also, I think you need to bet differently. You are waiting too long to raise your bets. A true count of +7 or +8 will almost never happen. Even if you start the shoe with a running count of +14 by removing 14 small cards (a +2.5 true count) you still won't see a count that high very often. You should probably start raising your bets around +2 and make your maximum bet at +5, like this:

<=+1 = 1 unit
+2 = 2 units
+3 = 4 units
+4 = 6 units
>=+5 = 12 units

I may be somewhat confused here Sonny,but if he's talking about removing 14 small cards from a two deck game then he's at +7TC from the get-go and so should be maxed out from the beginning of the deck. If your interpretation is correct then the bet pattern you mentioned was right on. I had to read through it several times myself.

My mistake. I was assuming a 6D game. In that case you are right, he should be maxed out from the start.

Hello! Of where? So, I hope you find this prederai within short deadline. All that counts and based on many hands giocasti. So were those series of defeats. So, good luck! P.S. I am sorry for my Italian because I am a student of the third hour Italian.

Speake the English !

Thanks a lot for all yours answers!
Nuh-vad-uh I'm from Perugia (Umbria) at 100 km from Rome I'm happy to know you are studing Italian maybe we should meet us at Venice Casino' (Wonderful Casino' on the water!!!) thus you'll make me win some money lol!!!

Ok now I have some question:
1) Does the basic strategy consider the cards dealt previously? or the "past" of the game?? (I think absolutely not..)

2) Wouldn't be appropriate to change the Basic Strategy when it's known that the connection between high cards and short ones is positive and different from zero?

3) Which is the most effective count??

4) For having a real edge against the house is it necessary that everyone sitting at the table play following the basic strategy?

5) Does the effectiveness of the used system depend from the number of emplacements on which the bet is done?

6) Does the basic strategy dictate to hit only one card or to hit cards until I reach the value on which is advantagious to stand? Example: the player has 12 and the house has 7--> if the player hits and come out 2--> 12+2 = 14 Do I hit again?

Thanks a lot!!
Regards
Giacomo

No, basic strategy only considers the average cards, not the actual cards that have been played.

Yes, card counters call these indices. There is more information about these in the Frequently Asked Questions thread (at the bottom).

The count that you can use the fastest and most accurately is the most effective. Most people start with a simple system like HiLo or KO. Once you learn a simple system you can think about trying a more difficult system, although you may not want to.

No, other people can play any way they want. It does not make a difference to you.

You can play as many spots as you want. Sometimes it is a little better to play more than one spot, but you can get an advantage either way.

Yes you should hit again. Basic strategy is for any number of cards, so if you had 5,3,4,2,2 = 16 you would still hit against a 7.
