Help me turn my $800 into $4000

#1
Hey everyone! New forum member here and I need some help. I guess my thread title says it all, as I am in a bind and the $800 doesn't help much at all. Yes, i know its not likely I can do this and will probably lose it all, but I'm committed to at least attempting it. I have about 10 more days to practice and then a week at the casino to make it happen.

I've been playing off and on for a long time and have BS down and also am adept at simple hi-lo counting. I posted here in the Voodoo section because I'm pretty sure my small bankroll will require some sort of positive progression to get me there. I really don't like a straight parlay progression and in the past I have used a "strategy" where I bet 2 units if I was ahead and 1 unit if I was down on money in that particualr series. Then the series would end when I was either 10 units up or 5 units down. I would also either bet up more or walk away when the count got to either extreme. If I cannot find a better idea here, I will just go with that.

But if any of you have a suggestion for a better strategy, I am all ears. And I'm sure some of you here will have a good laugh at this, but I'm serious about this and would appreciate some serious responses. thanks :)

If your real and absolute goal is $4000 from $800 in 10 days, a quite high chance is to place a single $800 bet on a game which pays 5:1, has low house edge, and accepts large wagers.
A candidate would be roulette with its "six line" bet (or whatever it is called). You can play on betfair (it is a roulette with no zero)!

Why you ask ?

With so little time, +EV games won't help you much. The only way to make $4000 is by chance = variance. And you will need high variance.

For highest variance (compared to EV) you need to make your move on a single bet. Why ? Multiple bets of smaller size will lower the variance per bet, hence with smaller size bets you would need to run through your bankroll multiple times to achieve the same variance. On a -EV game you wan't to keep the total bet low, hence make it a single bet.

Personally I would never make such crazy play. But if it is a life/death situation it's the best of all worst options.

You have 80 x 10u. When you reach 1600 shift to 80 x 20u.
If you don't bust out you can reach 4000 fast. Stop immediately at 4000.
Keep us posted. zg

Do you have at least have a convincing utilitarian argument as to why the utility of playing a progression to get $4000 is positive, despite being -EV.

If it is just so that you can begin a red-chipper counting career sooner than later (when you save up the $4000 on your own), then I'd contend that the utility created by this choice is negative.

Step 1: Make a phony flyer mentioning a 2-1 blackjack promo at an LV casino during a specific time.

Step 2: Leave it on KJ's doorstep...

Step 3: During the "specific time" break into KJ's house... He probably has $20k stuffed into a matress somewhere

Edit: Or maybe you could just get a loan? (from a bank, not KJ)

I suggest making a voodoo doll of the casino you wish to play at. (You can add casino merchandise to the doll to make it more authentic) Then recite the following 7 times over a woodlit pot of boiling water with ant legs, garlic and ragweed, "Hooojoko nahbaboooooboooooo. Aseelakapaynooooo" Inhale. Then go to that casino, wait for a +3 count in a 6 deck game and start betting $200/hand. If you start winning, increase your bets to 1/4 of your bankroll. Stop when you get to $4000 or the count drops to -2. If it reaches -2 before you reach $8000, then find another shoe and repeat the process.

You know farmdoggy, I suppose this is meant to be funny, but the truth is I worry about the amount of information I put out. I mostly worry that I can do harm to myself if casino personel read the board, but I have had no problem in that regard. I guess I have been willing to take that risk, because the message board gives me an outlet to share BJ experiences that I don't have in my personal life. But you have just opened my eyes to the fact that their is much more danger to exposing myself, that I neglectfully haven't given much thought to. So I thank you for that.

That is very true. You have to be not only concerned leaving the casino but also about being followed home.

If playing rated using your real name you add a whole new layer of concern from casino employees (and accomplices) that may have other uses for your bankroll.

Be safe everyone

Thanks for the feedback everyone! No, I'm not trying to build up a stake and turn pro. In fact this will probably be the last time I ever seriously play cards with the intent of profiting. IF I am lucky enough to hit my goal, I will count my blessings and get the hell out of Dodge.

I'm a little too risk averse to bet it all on one play or even risk 1/4 of it on one hand, as a few of you mentioned. I will just play green, wong in, bet up when the count is good and I am ahead, and get out when the dealer gets hot. It's the best I got, unless any of you have a better blackjack progression idea.
