Hi-Lo vs Hi Opt II

I'm fairly new to card counting, and blackjack all together. I have studied basic strategy and got my Hi-Lo single deck count to around 43 second (Planning on getting it down before hitting any casinos)

I am also reading "play blackjack like the pros" by Kevin Blackwood. He chooses Opt II as his system of choice. He seems to only talk about single deck and dbl deck blackjack. Would Opt II be a better system when playing with a shoe as well? The system is more efficient based on http://www.qfit.com/card-counting.htm IHe also stats that if you would like make around 10% more playing blackjack to forget Hi Lo and just learn Opt II.

Would i have to forget Hi Lo all together after spending a decent amount of time into it?

Also how does keeping track of suites come into account when counting with some of those other systems? I am very intrigued.

Sorry for the beginner questions. But I don't know many card counters to ask

Hi-lo has a better betting correlation, which is more important for shoe games, so I would stick with that if shoes is what you're playing primarily.

The Hi-Opt II system uses an ace side count. That means you have to be able to estimate the number of decks with ¼-deck accuracy. That’s a lot easier to do in pitch games than in shoe games. If you don’t have your deck estimation skills up to par then I would go with HiLo.

Once you get some more practice and experience you might think about switching to the Zen system, which is similar to Hi-Opt II and doesn’t require the side count. I wouldn’t try that until you have HiLo mastered first though.

Hi Opt II is the BEST Level Two system you will ever find for playing Double Deck BJ.

However, Hi-Lo is a very good choice for shoe games as it has a very high Betting Correlation.

The lower Insurance Correlation / Playing Efficiency are not nearly as important when playing against a shoe.

If you are primarily a shoe player, as most of us are, my advice is to stick to Hi-Lo and get really god at it.

Be sure to read Blackjack Attack, 3rd ed., by Don Schlesinger, in order to take your game to a new level of power.
