How long till I would be comped

I'm not convinced there's a set of strict rules for comping. Yes, there are thresholds that pit bosses work under, obviously in terms of minimums, before they'll offer comps. After that then it's up to the individual pit boss whether he or she offers you anything. Over the almost 40 years I've been going out to Vegas I've seen just about everything from pit bosses falling all over themselves for a "whale" to people asking for comps to pit bosses basically ignoring the table in terms of comps. I've been comped but quite frankly I've never played with that in mind. In your case I'd venture you'd have to play long enough to put somewhere in the neighborhood of $4,000 at risk over a period of time before you'd see a full room comp and even that's not guaranteed. If you happen to be on the losing end of that $4,000 then that's one expensive room, especially right now when rooms are the cheapest they've been in years with many shops offering rooms for less than $100 a night for even non-rated players. There are little comps here and there like free play coupons, a dinner offer, show tickets, etc., etc., which are nice but just remember there's a cost and sometimes that cost is way higher than what the comp would have cost you if you simply just bought it yourself. If you losing a few hundred an hour then that's some expensive beer!
It seems to me that the casino's are getting out of the business of just giving out comps. You have to ask for them. Maybe it's just the places I play, but Randy is right about pit bosses ignoring tables basically. My last trip, I played all week at this place and was never offered anything. Then someone at the table I was at asked the pit boss and he gave him a dinner or something. I realized that they're not going to give anything out, but if you ask you may be able to get something.
