You're at a large, well-known Indian casino and the casino mgr gives you the tap and gives you the old skilled player talk. He tells you that you may continue playing blackjack only if you flat bet. At the first bet raise, you will be ejected. You are welcome to play any other game in the casino. There is no security with him, no trespass act, etc.

Questions:
1. Do you think it would be OK to wong in place and not bet in a neg count and flat bet in a positive count?

2. Could you play Spanish 21, or do they consider that blackjack?

3. Would you just leave and not even think about the above questions?

You got a very polite backoff. Smart manager who did not want to create a scene that might upset some of his regulars but still wanted to get you off the table.
If you wong or play Sp21, especially with a spread, you can land up upsetting that manager or he might think you are showing him up and turn your backoff into an 86.

If I were you I would leave and return a few months later. Gives them time to forget you face. If you played with a card in the past you might play without one in the future, or try using the card right before you plan to leave and see if anything happens.

Interestingly, I had an Asian guy next to me, and he backlined me for an entire shoe. He was very pleased when I stood on a 3 card 16 V 10 and the dealer busted.

Re the player's card, my acct was zeroed out and is no longer accessible online, meaning my Amex will have some partial room charges on it. The basic room was comped (classified as a non-gaming comp on the bill), but I upgraded to a suite and at check-in, paid for it with pre-existing comp dollars. I plan on disputing the charge when I get the bill. At check-in, the front desk clerk confirmed that the points were there and would be used for the room. The back-off happened 24 hours later. Hypothetically, of course...

You can no longer use a card there. Unless you are fairly well known there, you might return in a few months and play without a card or find a card with a name that might be yours at the slots and use it (but you might get some poor guy's comps zerod out also.

At most big places the casino manager is one step below the general manager and they would have had the pit boss, shift manager or table game manager back you off.

If you stay away for 6 months, 50% of the pit staff will be new. If you stay away for a year, 75% of the pit staff will be new. At least that's been my experience. The manager will probably still be there, but he only noticed you because someone pointed you out to him. Play when he isn't there.

How long you need to make yourself scarce for at the casino that backs you off is directly proportional to your mean wager.

The higher your level of action the longer your absence must be.

If you are a red chipper, 3 - 4 months

If you are a green chipper, 6 - 9 months

If you are a black chipper, 16 - 24 months

If you are a yellow chipper, 3 - 5 years

The above are rather conservative time spans.
Longer is better, especially if your appearance is unchanged, and triply so if the casino is a small one.
