I just got caught card counting...

#1
So the other day, I was doing purple chips ($500), and took them for $3000+. Came back today, and they were on to me. Since I used to work there, it was my old boss, saying how surveillance saw me, blah blah. He was pretty nice about it.

A old (not really) saying goes, blackjack card counting is easy, avoid being caught is the hard part. I was very familiar with this casino, I was getting no heat from anywhere. I knew the only place I had to be worried about was from the eye in the sky. The true count was 10, towards the end of the shoe, and I couldn't help myself. Well there isn't any nearby casinos for me, so thats the end of it. I must say I did enjoy it while it lasted, but I couldn't see myself doing this long term. The guy I met card counting, who was on "restrictions - aka, min bet only allowed" was right next to me, not being caught. I know some of you guys who read my other thread are going to tell me, well, blah blah blah spread of 1-100. He has done it, with a spread of 1-15 for 6 years, and he has made less than what I made in 4 days of doing it. I rather do what I did, than come to casino and play the way he did, make the amount he made. Waste of time and money.

Well not much more for me to say, I wish the rest of you guys the best of luck. I will continue to pursue my career. I hope some of you guys could take something out of my experience.

Flame away!!!

not surprised

with the betting spreads that you have been discussing on this board, I dont think anyone will be surprised by your misfortune. Knowing how to make a little profit is only half the battle. Knowing what you can get a way with and for how long is the really hard part.

Not misfortune. He did exactly what he should do: win money. I'd rather win $50k in one year and never be able to play again than lose. You're just not gonna be able to play purple chips for a long time at one place.

Thats like a 20 hour flight for me, but I was there recently, for other reasons. If I was to go again, should I do a crazy spread, and get kicked out, and then go to another casino that isnt connected with it, and do a crazy spread or are they all connected? It doesnt bother me getting banned there since I wont be going again. Am I still allowed to play other games there? Are they really rude about it?

Oh... Yeah you can't ever play there again.
I don't know about Aussie casinos, but casino personnel turn over pretty quick here in the states in many cases. He just needs to wait long enough. If the game is worth playing, I would check back a year from now.
