He certainly doesn't look very happy in that photo. I wonder why they let him take a photo after he found out he was screwed. The hand shown doesn't look like any sort of winner, either.

Something similar happened at Philadelphia Park (not Indian) shortly after it opened last year. A guy won a 100K jackpot and they said it was a mistake.
He managed to get himself some good newspaper and TV coverage and the casino caved to the bad publicity, making a statement they still weren't obligated to pay it.

This guy needs Matt Lauer's attention...

Did anyone explain $1,597,244.10?

Not being a progressive and being clearly marked that $2,500 is the max, has the manufacturer, casino or anyone come up with an explaination of just this machine spit out a jackpot total amount that could only come from a progressive?

Digging into this might give a lawyer a fighting chance in the court of public opinion but of course, not in tribal court. Maybe IGT or whoever made the machine will pony up.:)

i side with the casino, because (IM GUESSING HERE) there isnt a nickel machine in the country with a jackpot over a million.. you would need a $5 machine to pay that, unless of course we are talking about a machine that has like a 10% payback if you dont include the jackpot

And you would lose that bet. Ever hear of progressives?
first off, do you think im retarded? and secondly, what the hell did you think i was talking about? the normal jackpot of like $2000? i am aware i did say there isnt a nickel machine in the country that has a progressive of over a million, but by that i meant that if there are, its only a few, and it has a really really really shitty payback without the progressive, and its some huge game thats very popular and/or a promotion.. i can tell you this, no casino by me has a jackpot of even $100,000 for pennies or nickels, and yes im talking about progressives.. MOST OF THE TIME, progressives start out at the regular jackpot amount, and then climb from there, so its not like its going to start at $2000 and climb to $1,000,000.. that would be a weird progressive indeed, as each coin you put in would actually have to be multiplied, then added

1) I guess I side with the casino, but they could have offered him more than just $2,500 and a few free meals. Management really messed that up and are getting bad press because of it.

2) I agree with the guy who is trying to go to court. If a machine told me I won over 1$million and the casino said "pass", I would be unpleased.

first off, you realize there is no harrahs in hammond right? there is a horseshoe only, and unless harrahs owns horseshoe..
Yup, Harrah’s owns the Horseshoe casino in Hammond.

SilentBob420BMFJ said:
i knew i wasnt 100% correct when i said there are no nickel progressives with huge jackpots, but i was making a point that a nickel machine that has a 2-3 coin max bet probably wont have a 1,600,000 payout.
You could make your life much easier by not publicly saying things that you know aren’t true. Instead of saying “I’m guessing there isn’t a nickel machine in the country with a jackpot over a million” you could ask “Are there any nickel machines in the country with a jackpot over a million?” Instead of saying something that you know is probably wrong, try asking a question to learn more about something before you start make guesses. I think that will save you a lot of trouble and a lot of negative comments from other people. If you give them a reason to attack you, they usually will.

i can go find you idiotic, completely wrong statements made by almost every member on this forum, some of them doing it constantly, and unless they really need to be put in their place due to nonstop insanely wrong statements…why would you jump on every little thing somebody says?
I think Shadroch will completely agree with you on that point.

tell me tho, what is worse, guessing at something or completely insulting somebody into the ground because you assume that they arent just guessing but saying they are absolutely sure and that anybody who disagrees with them is wrong! from the responses i get, it seems like i dont say things like "i doubt there are any blah blah", but rather "there arent any blah blah and your an idiot if you think so, im a pro, you need to listen to me!".. when i have i ever said the latter? i really think some people on here need to check theirself and stop being so angry.. making a statement and being wrong? that happens all the time, and anybody who tackles a person who is usually not completely wrong means that person doesnt like the other person and they dont really care what the subject is, they just want to run that person into the ground..

You’re right, but there are steps that you can take to avoid getting people upset or sounding unprepared. Like I said, sometimes just rewording your sentences can make a big difference in how people perceive you and can stop you from becoming a target. There are always going to be people waiting to jump on your mistakes – they are everywhere in life. Knowing how to present yourself and your ideas will go a long way in keeping them off your back. Like I said, don’t give them a reason. :)

well, im a lot better than i was a few months ago.. sometimes now i catch myself making a statement that is actually a guess, so i make sure i say "im just guessing here".. and btw, saying "im just guessing here" and asking a question are the same thing to me, as both are stating you dont know the answer.. also, thats why i have the quote i have, for rude technical assholes who have a stick up their ass

Silentbob.

You said you didn't think there were nickel machines that had million dollar jackpots. I told you you were mistaken, didn't insult you. You then said that they must be in mega-casinos in Vegas. I,and another member pointed out that you were once again mistaken. No insults, just telling you that you were ill-informed. You then come back blasting with both barrells that we shouldn't go by what you actually say,but should somehow interpet what you really meant to say.
Is that about right?
As the purpose of this forum is to educate people, should we allow statements that there are no million dollar nickel machines stand, when it is obviously wrong.
How about this-If you don't know something, don't guess about it and then get bent out of shape when you are corrected. Try doing what other people, including myself, do- ask questions and learn, rather than shoot from the hip and wait to be corrected.

The article makes a good point that if the machine says max payout $2500 dollars, the man would never expect to see anything close to 1.6million. He must have known it was an error and is just trying to get something out of it. They should pay him $2500 and thats it. Unless that bonus round bs he was talking about is true. I don't play slots so I have no idea.

"Yes,I do think you are retarded."

"I'm beginning to wonder if you've ever actually been in a casino."

"There are more Megabucks machines in your area than you have IQ points. 97.."

ya, i guess you were right, you didnt insult me.. i think you need to go read some of your own posts so you realize how much of an asshole you are to people.. you should also read my quote, and apply it to my posts.. the funny thing is my quote is common sense, as nobody is absolutely 100% dead on with everything they say, nor does everybody literally mean exactly what they say 100% of the time.. dont assume that when i say something, im saying that anybody who disagrees with me is wrong, its not open for discussion, and im the smartest person on this board, and always right.. just because your not 100% sure if your right doesnt mean you cant put it in the form of a statement, especially if you word it right, such as using the phrases "not sure", "i think", "possibly", or "i doubt".. i was glad to see you slam irishman, so as to let me know your not just insulting me.. for the record, I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE MILLION DOLLAR NICKEL PROGRESSIVES, but i never claimed i wasnt wrong, and dont see why you couldnt word it better..

I didn't insult you until after you started shite.
I don't know about you,but most adults don't say things they are either not sure of,or don't mean. Perhaps next year, when you take tenth grade English, you'll learn how to be declarative or ask questions.
