Keep dealing??

#1
I was near my local racino during lunch today so I jumped at the chance to see what the play was like during the week / mid day. They had only been open about 45 min and 2 of the 4 BJ tables had the cards still spread out. I went to a table where there was one player and asked if he minded if I joined, he didnt. These are $5 tables btw. Only about 1 deck had been dealt - well the count went good and I just about doulbed my $ in about 30 min.

Near the end of the shoe, the last card the dealer took was the card right before the cut card. So the cut card is showing and is the next card to be dealt to start the next round. By then there were 3 of us at the table. I thought he was going to shuffle but the dealer said "no I have to go one more round"

Having the cut card as the next card out to start a new round has never happend to me before and I didnt know if playing or shuffling was normal but regardless because I was counting I was very happy he did. Also one of the guys at the table said "..yeah and now sometimes they look at the shoe and see if there are enough cards to keep dealing too after the cut card comes out.." I was thinking to myself...WOW.

Not sure if this is a usual thing for mid week / mid day play or not.

The penetration is usually 75% to 80% there.

There was a dealer at the reserve casino who did that for me and one other guy as well, and it was true 4 at that point. It was a beauty.

At all the casinos I have played, it is typical to shuffle when the cut card is the next card out of the shoe/deck
Yes this is usually the case about 97% of the time, but you do come across the odd dealer who will let another round come out of the juicy cutoff mmhmmm.:cool2:

This is never supposed to be up to the dealer. The bosses set the procedure and the dealers have to follow it or risk being written up. Some houses require them to deal another round, and some do not. Your dealer was almost certainly just following procedure.
