Hey guys,

Has anybody here tried Mike Aponte's advanced BJ training course for $995? I would really appreciate some thoughts on whether it is possibly worth the money from some of the more knowledgeable members of the board. Thanks!

Here is the description taken from Mike's website-

Looks -EV to me. :bomb:

Did you already take the intermediate course?
No, I figure if I am going to do it then I might as well just begin with the highest level of training right from the get-go.

Write Mike and tell him that he should give you a free token for the course and you
will review it to BJINFO with the hopes that you can write a good review of the value. zg

I very much doubt there will be much of value in that course that you couldn't get for free right here in the forums. Your money is best spent elsewhere, such as on a couple of books and CV software.

I know that I man going out on a very shaky limb here, but I
feel comfortable in saying that the "course" is worth about 1.0%
of the asking price. However, marketing it at such an absurd
price point places Mike in the august company of P.T. Barnum.

Funny

Why $1,000? Because he was one of the original MIT guys. BIG F'N DEAL.
It's a rip off, and guys like this should be slapped.
My humble opinion....

You mean to tell me there is more to learn outside of BJBBII

I purchased the Blackjack Reality book, recommended by ZenGrifter, for multideck play but I can't imagine going further than that (slug tracking? Sheesh!)

Really now. So you are just beginning learning card counting?

In your posts from 2009 and 2010 you seem somewhat knowledgeable about Wonging, backcounting, effect of rules and penetration on SCORE, team play theory, and NRS theory. Did something happen between now and then where you forgot all that, and now need to start at the beginning with a $995 course?

The intermediate course is just being launched this week. The advanced course has not been launched. SO, you're not likely to get a meaningful "review" at this time.:)

Does it come with a complimentary pair of X-ray glasses that help you spot the hole card?

Seriously, why pay so much money, when you get the same info for 1/10 th the price and even for zero dollars.
For the millionth time, card counting is not rocket science. If my 12 year old C student nephew can do it. You can do it.

Fair question Monkey. I should have been more clear in my OP. I have been playing, simming, and studying BJ on and off for years. It is a cool hobby.

I found the home training course from Blackjack Institute to be an invaluable resource in so far as cultivating my technical skills in the game. Learned a bit of theory as well. I went as far as I could with the HTC but there are still some holes in my game.

I am just wondering if Mike's advanced course can further enhance my game. $995 bucks isn't cheap...I just wonder how much value is to be gained.

QFIT, are you by any chance helping to develop Mike's courses? If so, how are you contributing?

No. The software they mention is CV -- of course.:) If they stuck to the original game plan, the result could be interesting. But, I haven’t seen the product.

I did not recommend it for everyone, only you because its the only book specifically about Ace sequencing 6-8D games. zg
