NBA predictions

I'm doing alright with my NFL predictions so I thought I'd post my picks with the NBA after doing pretty well thus far this season.

For tonight, I like the following teams

Charlotte +2.5
Atlanta +4
Lakers -5.5
Golden State -6
New York +4.5

an update for the ball game

Ohio will be starting a 3rd string quarterback tonight so to speak . The spread is 18-18.5 with an O/U at 54 which seems high to me depending on where you bet . I would think Ball can cover easily and last week we did bet them and they covered easily . I am not betting this game though so do what you want with the info!!!!

I generally bet the same amount for every game unless I feel especially strong about one of them. If you're not taking Ball State, I'll pass I think. I think the line was a bit high for my liking especially since they're only winning by like 1 point.

Alright I'm game

Go ahead Thunder do your thing. Are you gonna post records? Can you mark your strong pick if any one is looking to make a play a day? I've been tracking a fellow thats hitting about 74% on his hockey plays. I might nitengale his one pick a day as he does. NBA is goofy to me, as I feel players just go through the motions after awhile. I have been tracking that as well, with lower %'s.

I'm taking
Utah at -2.5
Atlanta at +10

These look really favorable as Atlanta is undefeated and Utah is pretty good while playing the worst team in the league right now in the Wizards. More to come later but these stood out right away.

ok, I'm adding Toronto at -5.5

74% on hockey is quite impressive to say the least. I'll be happy to post the records.

The thing that's tough about the NBA is the margin of error is so slim. One basket missed or made on the last shot often decides whether you win or lose so it's definitely not for the faint hearted. I try not to watch the NBA games as I know I'll go crazy.

I agree. But I'm staying away from college basketball as I for some reason don't do as well with that. That said, I do follow the ACC with some regularity so if I see a game I really like, I might jump on it. BTW I'm taking Dallas -2 and Detroit -4 tonight.

Results thus far

Well I'm two games under break even thus far since I started posting but I'm hoping that it's just variance. Don't expect the winning percentage to be as good as Glove's or my football picks since football is much easier to handicap than basketball inmho. What makes it particularly hard is that one injury to a starting player on a basketball team can significantly skew the results since in basketball they are responsible for a much higher percentage of a team's production vs. say football.
