New to team play

On a $10 min and $500 max, can this simply plan work?

Spotter bets $10 over two hands. The Gorilla/BP jumps in at TC (H/L) of 2+ and bets $400 on each hand behind the spotter.

Bankroll of $30 000

can't help you with win rate but i'd say the fact your BP plays behind your spotter will attract heat and might get your whole team pegged eventually.

winrate = sum over all TCs: hourly frequency of each TC (in number of rounds) * bet at that TC * edge at that TC

where since your BP backbets the spotter, the total bet at TCs 2+ is just the (minbet + BP bet)*# hands, in your case 2. TC frequencies for HiLo are published in many places, including on QFIT's website under his online blackjack calculators section. just remember those frequencies are likely for one player sitting at the table playing one hand (I am not sure, so sim your own if you are worried about number of players/hands used to generate those frequencies).

regarding heat, depends on the joint and how the spotter and bp interacted in the casino. doing it more than once per spotter-BP combo will likely raise suspicions though...

The plan barely works on paper - around a 0.5% edge with the RoR over 20%. Getting the plan to work in a casino for any length of time will be an even bigger challenge.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

A little background info. First time I did card counting, I used a 1 to 50 spread (lol its true) and took $5000 in about a week. Didnt take long to get banned.

Went to a different casino recently and took about $12 000 with a 1-12 spread, got banned within a week as well. Obviously I just got the better of variance and I dont expect the win rate to be that high over the long term. I am terrible with regards to avoiding heat, so decided to turn to team play.

I've read the 2 threads here on team play, still pretty clueless, any links/ideas on how to get it to work?

I'm assuming that you don't have many casinos near you, so you're spending a lot of time on sessions at the few places you have. Sound about right? I also play with a somewhat obscene spread (1-60 at times), but I understand that this can only work under certain circumstances. If you spread heavy or even just play a mild game for any length of time, the casino will observe you, and you will be detected. Most likely your problems have come as a result of playing for too long with an obvious card counting strategy. Especially if you are winning, you will be under scrutiny. Also, depending on the particular casino's "choke point," you may be backed off even if you're just winning ($12K is a lot for many smaller places) and they simply don't know why.

For the type of team play that you're suggesting to work, you need to implement a very large spread. For example, if you're flat-betting $10 a hand, your BP needs to betting much larger than $500 to make it profitable and you'll need a very large bankroll to lower your risk. And as noted by other people more knowledgeable than myself, you will not be able to pull this off for any length of time at one casino.

If you want to increase your profits and you feel that you can bet up to $500 a hand, I have a suggestion for you. At that limit, you should be able to afford airfare for you and your partner to Vegas and play quarters for about a week. You can spread wildly, playing individually for 45 minute sessions, and get great playable games all over town. Your EV will (theoretically) pay for the trip. The risk of being backed off as an unknown player at these limits, playing short sessions, is not very high, although a max bet of $400 (or 2x$250/300) might be less conspicuous. This type of team play (every man for himself) will decrease your variance and double your win-rate (since you're playing twice the amount of hands).
