New Trick

#1
I just got back from a 4 day trip and learned a new trick. I spent lots of time playing double deck heads-up against the dealer. I pretended that I was big time superstitious. I kept saying things like "I have a hunch that a 9 is coming", etc. When the count on a given deck got sufficiently negative, I told the dealer, "I have real bad vibes about this deck. Please shuffle up." And he/she did!! I could then control the game on bad counts. Of course, on nicely positive counts I let the play proceed and made some $$.

Has anyone else used this technique?

yes. there was one casino i used to play at heads up a lot, and when you left the table they shuffled up. i took lots of bathroom breaks at that casino.

you should be careful not to get too carried away. the dealer might not know what you're up to, but with enough time someone will figure it out and then they might start shuffling you up when you DON'T want them to :/

use it with caution.

Some casinos will do one and only one "courtesy shuffle," upon pit approval. Ask again and you'll get a lot of grief and a "no, sorry."

I've done this on several occasions. It usually works best when you are really getting killed. Its harder to pull off when you are winning. The last time I did this I managed to get the dealer (with the floor's OK) to burn every low count deck I had for almost 3 hours. I still ended up losing 20K but I had some good EV during that time period.
