On comps, other

The experts seem to be of different minds on this.

If you're going to AC or LV, should you try to start off at one place, earn your comps, then go to other casinos?

Should you avoid comps altogether if you're going to try to play aggressively?

Should you readily sign up for comps no matter what, so as not to bring attention to yourself?

-------------------------

Next issue is how do you earn comps exactly? Suppose you're willing to play a lot, how many hands and how much betting would you have to do to get a free room for the night in AC?

If they decide you're a cardcounter, and then limit your betting to flat bets, will they strip you of your comps you've earned, too?

Casinos that can bar you (throw you out)--I assume the same is true. Those comps you've earned are toast. Is that right?

Comps, Caught and Counting

If you get caught counting in AC you will no longer get comps and you may face counter measures.

If you get caught counting in Vegas you will no longer get comps and asked not to play in one form or another.

Many opinions on if you should try for comps. There are many variables.

If you play for comps your play will be watched more closely then if you do not. However, sometimes the reverse is true.

It all depends.

Do you want to increase your chances of getting busted, in exchange for lowering your expenses? There is no correct answer.

IMO, it's best to build up comps at one or two places and play aggressively elsewhere. There's one place in AC I was busted for counting. I just keep going back and try to avoid a few familiar faces. The thing that usually gets me busted there is when the PC goes on break and the relief sees me before I see him, and recognizes me. Then, it's time to move on, until another shift or another day. In that circumstance (playing anon) it's nice to be able to play aggressively, while it lasts, and not to have to worry about losing comps.

In AC, if you play green for 2-3 hours, they'll probably give you a (weekday) room if you ask for it. The stakes go way up on weekends and are somewhat higher as the warm weather gets here.

I've never had my existing comp points taken away, though it can happen.

Yep, that can work
Sounds like a plan

What do you think tipped them off that you were counting? And what exactly were the counter-measures?
I believe something in their computer alerted them that I had won way too much money for "luck" to account for. I was playing there too frequently, especially after a run of positive variance.

Countermeasures included reshuffling when I raised my bet and cutting the shoe in half.
